Here we go again....

Well, most of you know by now the horrible luck we've come across lately in regards to puppies. And for those who don't--> So upset- Thora has a heart murmur

Just a few moments ago I got off the phone with the breeder (same one we've been dealing with). Of course we're too late for the March litter that was born on the 16th, which I expected. He told me he has 2 sets of pairings coming up in the next few weeks, one in NY and one near Philly (which is closer to us). So I told him to put us on the list and get in touch when the dogs are being bred so I can see pictures of the parents and learn more about them. While I was happy to hear that he had more litters planned, I must admit I am a little disappointed to have to wait so long after all the anticipation we built up over the last pup. I really hoped to have a little 4 legged bundle to spoil this summer. I am still going to keep looking in case I come across another reputable breeder with a litter, but they seem so few and far between in PA :/

Anyways, that's where we are... still waiting patiently for a little girl

Have you considered broadening your search?
When we were looking for a pup I checked into surrounding states. A good portion of the breeders I liked that were not in Ohio were very eager to help me make contacts with those closer to me or knew of breeders that I would never have been able to find since they don't advertise.
I know of a litter in Ohio.....Raine's mom and her uncle had a litter on 2/22. There are 3 females.
Just sayin.

Awww new babies!! I wish I was on the other side of the state- I would definitely be asking for contacts! We're all the way on the east side, so OH is quite a haul for us, even more so for an 8 week pup
Most of the litters we've been chasing aren't in PA actually, they've been in parts of NJ and one of the next ones is in NY. We put a good 9 hrs of driving under our belt going back and forth to see Thora. Worth every minute even though things ended up the way they did.

When you were looking, did you find any good resources other than your local boxer clubs?
I'm not sure where else to look other than dog shows, which I know nothing about. I've found a number of breeder websites in PA and NJ, but most don't say anything about health testing, or have both parents on site (which is bad in my book). To be honest, my breeder is the only one so far that I'm comfortable with. I know there must be other good ones out there.

On another note, I wish I could convince DH to foster while we wait. He just doesn't have the same soft spot for displaced pups as I do I suppose. He won't foster and won't adopt.... kinda hit a wall there. Still, I haven't given up trying to convince him otherwise

I am heading out for a bit but have more I want to say in response to your post.
I am going to speak with Raine's breeder and see if she might have a suggestion on who you might contact. She and hubby hold positions with the Ohio Boxer Club so I'm sure she would be a good start.
To be continued!

If you would find a breeder in Ohio, I live near Pittsburgh and would be more than happy to help transport to you!!!

Thanks Susi! I'm anxious for your reply. And thank you Corinne for the offer- that's so kind of you. I was on google maps to check distance, and OH is about 8 hours. I would love to hear if your OH breeder has some closer contacts.
And if in the end I still have to wait until fall for my pup... I'm ok with it. I have something to look forward to again and something to check off on my calendar, so it's at least something

I was testing the waters again last night with hubby and brought up the foster idea... no dice. HOWEVER! ...He does have a soft spot for senior sweethearts We both constantly b**ch and moan about all the seniors we see online who are just dumped off in the midst of their golden years... it breaks my heart. So once we buy a house and have gotten through puppy training with our next potential pup, I'm going to talk to him again about adopting a senior. From there- who knows! It's a start at least.

Sent off an e-mail to the breeder however....
I don't know if we would be able to list info here on BW so it might be a moot point!

Drat- read through the rules. BW doesn't permit leaving personal info (ie: email addy). It's a shame there is no pm system. Well, I appreciate the thought and the effort Susi

You cannot post personal information on the board, nor promote individual breeders (both for good reasons ). You already have a place to start with this though - the Ohio Boxer Club.

How about.....can we post a persons name that is a board member of The Ohio Boxer Club or just what position the person holds in order to be able to Google that person/position and coming up with their name that way?
Seems like an attempt at bending the rules and I don't want to do that!
Understand perfectly if that won't fly.

Yes, not trying to break any rules. I know they're in place for good reasons.

My mom passed along an email to me of a lady she met at doggy swimming class. She thinks she has some boxer contacts, so I'm going to give it a shot and see where it leads.

The site rules don't allow promotion of individuals, so no, posting a name isn't going to fly. Best suggestion is simply to contact the club, and see if they will point you at members who have puppies or upcoming litters.
