Need some advice....

Hello,

I been looking into buying a boxer for some time now, and i came across a breeder that Im looking for some advice on. Article in paper says 2 12 weeks AKC boxers for sale and a 5 yr old boxer for free to a loving home.

so i called and asked about the 12 week old, if she gave a health guarentee and she said she never has, and never had any problems in 7 years of breeding. She also stated that she keeps in touch with every boxer that she sells, and there were no problems. Im going to check out the dogs on wednesday, but now I am concerned that she is giving away a 5 yr old boxer, which must be the mother of these pups? which i forgot to ask her.

If i could get the health guarentee, should I go ahead with the purchase?

A reputable breeder wouldn't be posting an ad in the newspaper and also she states she doesn't do health testing which would definitely be a red flag. I would pass on this one and keep looking.

I agree. No reputable breeder would place an ad in a paper. I would ask of proof of health testing on the parents and if the breeder cannot provide them, then walk away.

Here is a list of what they should be testing for:

I absolutely agree with the other two and if she does not offer a guarantee I'd be willing to bet that she does not do health testing either.

Personally I'd call her back and tell her thanks but you will be looking elsewhere and skip on seeing them as well. It's not worth your time when she doesn't offer a health guarantee probably doesn't do health testing (I'm willing to bet).

IMO.

Aside from the obvious with the health tests, I would not have even looked at her because of the '5 yr old boxer for free to a loving home'.

Any breeder who gives away their dogs, after breeding them, is totally irresponsible and a jerk in my opinion. Someone only thinking about money...

Keep looking and be patient, it may be a while but will be worth it in the end!
