Smile trying to find a breeder tri state area

Hi well we thought we had a breeder lined up but she was unable to breed at this time. So I need help trying to find a good breeded I do not want to ship dog I want to drive. So anywhere in CT, NY, NJ, PA, MA, RI would be ideal. We are just moving into our new home so a few months away is good.

Thanks

As the site rules do not allow the promotion of individual breeders anywhere on boxerworld, nobody is able to give you a specific recommendation here. You would need to do the research to find a responsible breeder yourself

We can, however, suggest that the best place to start such a search is through your nearest boxer club - or all breeds club, if there isn't a boxer club near you. A breed club should be able to point you in the direction of any breeder members who have litters coming up. Another good place to find breeders of good quality dogs is, of course, dog shows. One thing you should check carefully about is the screening any breeder performs on their breeding stock to ensure that they're not breeding from animals that carry any of the genetically inheritable health problems common to boxers. You can read more about the conditions that good breeders MUST screen breeding animals for on this page: Boxer health testing - which also has a link to the American Boxer Club's recommended screening for all boxers used for breeding.

Unhappy Tri-state boxers- DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!

KellyJay:

My previous post got deleted, because I blatantly disregarded the BoxerWorld rules and mentioned my breeder in my post! Sorry for that, BW.

Anyway, I feel your pain. I went through the same thing when trying to find a reputable boxer breeder around here (it took months), and what I can tell you is that there are WAY TOO MANY bad breeders that I had to weed through to get to my boy. I even found the NJBC to be non-responsive. You really have to do your homework, visit places, and hunt the right people down. Unfortunately for the breed and probably with all breeds, there is way too much homework to do around here. It is sad, but I am thrilled to have waited and did finally find an amazing situation. Do no perpetuate what is inherently wrong with buying a dog in this country, and especially, around here. It is getting worse too, so be very cautious.

Thanks for your reply. I know I never thought it would be so hard to find a good breeder for a boxer. I have emailed so many breeders like you said NJBC and NY and CT and MA and RI lol. Some people I have spoken to on the phone and realize I do not trust them. Some people either have outrageous prices for a pet ($2850.!) or others say they don't believe in doing health testing!
So I am being patient and have found a breeder in NJ I have spoken to on the phone and she really made me feel comfortable. When her bitch goes into heat again and is pregnant I will go visit to be sure.
Thanks for the reply tho I wasn't sure if others in this area were having the same experience as I am. I will let you know how everything turns out.

Have you considered a rescue? Puppies are occasionally available. I would contact Link removed by moderator - only approved rescue groups may be promoted on this site. They can tell you what breeders in the area to avoid, which they recommend, and may even have something to fit your needs.
