how much does a boxer with a champion blood line boxer cost?
Im looking to get another boxer in a few months. I want a dark brindle female with alot of flash. I want a dog that has champion lines. I have seen several adds in the news paper and a few websites that claim champion lines, but most are not what im looking for, some do not look well bred even though they claim champion lines. I assume this means its a distant champion line. How much would I have to spend to get a boxer bred directly from champion lines on both sides?
Im wanting a boxer that looks like this...

Ditch the champion lines and go for champion parents - or at least one of them. And I wouldn't look in the paper to find your next breeder. Find the nearest boxer club in your area and see if you can get a referral for a reputable breeder.
A well bred pup from health tested parents may run you anywhere from 800-1500 bucks depending on where you are in the country. I paid 800 & 1200 for both of my boxers. It may seem like a lot when byb's are selling pups for 300 or 400, but at least my boxers LOOK like boxers and they are healthy. That to me is priceless.

I agree with ehayes. A reputable breeder will almost always have at least one of the parents championed. And chances that a reputable breeder will advertise in the paper or claim "champion lines" are slim to none. You need to start with a few local boxer clubs. Prices for well bred puppies start at about $800-1000 around here (that's just what I've seen).

Also, I found one place to ask questions is at a dog show. I visited one in a town a couple of hours away and saw some beautiful boxers. I visited with some handlers and they gave me a few leads. I also got to see first hand what a show dog should look like. It was really interesting and fun. I wanted to take all those adorable boxers home!

I have talked to several breeders in alabama that are planning breeding within the next several months with champion dogs. Both parents will be champion. They told me that pets are 500-800 and up, and show quality is 1500 and up. What is the difference between pet and show quality from the same breed? Im not wanting to show, but I do want a great example of the boxer breed.
Thanks

also what kinds of questions should I ask prospective breeders? Would it be out of line to ask to come see the parents before they have even started breeding?

At a young age it is a guess as to what will be a "show" dog. They go by color, marking, conformation, etc. They hope that the dog will be show quality. Sometimes the "pet" quality ends up more like show quality. It can be a guessing game, but most breeders are pretty good at picking out the "show" prospects. It does not mean the pet quality puppies won't be beautiful examples of the boxer breed, because they most likely will if their parents are excellent examples.
It is not out of line, IMO, to ask to see the parents. In fact, I would insist on it myself. Sometimes it is not possible to see them in person, but they can get you pictures and the bloodline to look at. I would want to see the parents myself. When I picked Olive out she was from Tennesee. I asked to see both the dam and sire. The sire was from Florida but the owners of the dam emailed me pictures, bloodline and the contact information of the owners so I could get verification.

I'm sure that any puppies out of two champion dogs will all end up looking like boxers, like good examples of the breed. A pet quality boxer maybe not quite as much as a show quality or champion boxer, but that's to be expected, right? You can pick apart any dog 'til you're blue in the face. Even champions have some faults. But I'm sure that anyone who owns a BYB boxer AND and a pet quality boxer from a show breeder, can tell you that there is certainly a difference between the two. Plus, like Kayboxer said, the difference between "show quality" and "pet quality" is simply the breeder's best guess at 8 weeks.

I don't think it would be out of line, personally. I'd think that the breeder would be happy to let you meet the dog(s) beforehand. It's definitely worth asking about!

The main reason I want to meet the parents and not see pics, is just so I can see what their temperment and personality is like.

Also a reputable breeder should have done temperament testing on both dam and sire and should be able to show you proof of this via paperwork. I understand wanting to see it for yourself, but just throwing out there that their temperaments should have also been professionally tested and passed prior to breeding the pair.
