We discovered Malbec a few years ago. It's delicious. It's a red from Argentina. It's a type of wine, like Merlot, so you can get it from many different winiers in South America. Catena Malbec is the best, but there are others.
I'm a pinot noir fan as well. I use to not like reds, whole headache factor as well, but after finding Malbecs I converted!

At the wine tasting my hubby always manages to make it look easy spitting the wine out and then trying another, me well I can´t be bothered I just drink the whole lot. Plus its not very elegant for a lady to spit, is it ?

If we go to a vineyard they often give us a clean glass with each different wine, sometimes it may be only a plastic glass (generally only in Spain) and the wine definitly does not taste the same.
Recently we went to a vineyard that had a museum tour and the owner gave us a talk afterwards, it was so boring that I drank half a bottle of wine on a sunday morning no less.

Wow, I'm really the oddball here. I don't drink wine. Even the smell of it makes me nauseous. I do have a nose like a bloodhound, though. I'm very sensitive to smells. I stopped drinking completely over a year ago due to some very unsavory behavior during my last drunken episode. If I ever drink again, I think I'll stink to a wine cooler...or two

I LOVE wine! Definitely a great way to relax after a long day of teaching Kindergarten...or any other activity... Oh what am I saying? Wine any day is good! I personally prefer white wines, but I'm trying to learn to drink red too, so I can be "well rounded". I started out drinking sweet wines, still love them, but am beginning to branch to semi-dry (read, slight less sweet than reislings).

I agree! Two of my favorite wines come from VA wineries - Our Dog Blue (Chataeu Morrisette) and Governer's White (Williamsburg Winery). I can find both in my local grocery store, and they're not expensive at all! Mmm...maybe I'll have some wine with dinner. Guess, I need to stop by the store!

Boy, did your post bring back memories! We used to get Boone's Farm too when we were underage. Oh, the headache the next day, tho! And you sure can't tell your parents and go climb back into bed!

Cool! There aren't too many Chardonnay fans in this thread and I'm always looking for new ones, so thanks! My fave Chard's are Edna Valley, La Crema, and Toad Hollow. There's also a really cheap one that's surprisingly good, called Camelot. I think it cost's around $6 a bottle and it doesn't seem to have a 'bite' to it, like some of them do

You posted this one for me too! I love wine. I grew up in Germany's Rhine region and now I live 2 hours from Napa. I didn't really have a choice! I grew up on German rieslings, but I'm actually partial to drier California wines.
I love a hundred different wines, and I can't wait to fall in love with 100 more!
Folie a Deux is my favorite all around because everything they make is outstanding. A tasting at the winery is like a "best hits" record. Everything they put in front of you is wonderful. Their table wines are actually becoming more widely available, but their good stuff is hard to find.
Opus One (cab/merlot/... blend) is the best wine to ever cross my lips - a must stop on a trip to Napa. One wine - tasting is $25 for 1/2 glass, but it's a memorable experience.
Domaine Chandon makes excellent value sparkling wines and they're becoming quite widely available. We're members of their wine club, so we drink a lot of that lately.
Current "grocery store" favorites are: Bicylette Shiraz (found it because I thought the label was cute), Smooking Loon Merlot (see above reason), Sterling (a good wine to bring to a party), Dog House wines (Checker's Cab, Maxie's Merlot and Charlie's Chard are all great - AND they donate $0.50 to Guide Dogs for the Blind for every bottle purchased), and of course the Folie table wines.

Me and my Chardonnay!
Hmmm, yes, I love wine -- mostly white wine and rosés. And, of course, champagne!!!
My favorites are crisp, dry white wines. Nothing too sweet. I prefer Californians, Australians, Spanish and Chilians. Fetzer, Penfolds, Carmen, to name a few.
At the end of the day, while I'm getting ready to cook diner, I love to pour myself a nice, cold, glass of wine. Exhale!
