I drive a 2004 Nissan Xterra, and my hubby has a 2000 Nissan Altima (w/ manual transmission) so when he goes to play hockey and takes the truck I am stranded

I have a Citreon C2 2004, which is a nice little car, however my bf has a Noble which is a fantastic car, it has been a squash to get Elvis in but we have managed it on a couple of occasions!

I keep asking him to sell it as he only uses it as a 'Sunday' car which does not justify the expence, but hey boys will be boys with their toys!

When my first car (95 Mazda 626) died last June after 7 years of my terrible driving skills, my parents bought me a red 1999 Ford Explorer Sport. I wanted a 2-door SUV and my mom really came through when she found my car. I hadn't even seen it when they bought it. If I had to buy my own, I'd be driving a 1974 pinto or something. Luckily, since I keep my grades up and work full-time to put myself through grad school and pay my bills, they were wonderful enough to buy me another car. I LOVE it. When I get my mustang in a few years (I'm dying for a 2005), I plan to keep my Explorer so I can still take the boys with me!

I drive a sturdy 1995 Buick Park Avenue. It was my grandfathers baby when he got it in 94 but fell out of love when he hit a deer with it (causing very little damage down the side of the car). He gave it to my dad around the year 2000 and he drove it until 2004 when I moved to Florida and needed a more reliable car. So I've inherited the big boat. It's been through quite a bit (I ran it into a cement pole in the parking lot at work and it is scratched down the back half of the passenger side) but the motor runs well with 122,000 miles on it and I hopefully plan on driving it until I graduate college (in 2.5 years) and get a fancy job and can afford to buy a new car. But for the price (it was given to us for free from my grandpa) you can't beat it!

My dad had a hunter green one of these till the lease expired. It was a really cool, funky car. Traded it in for an '05 BMW 3 something. Didn't/don't drive either as they're stick shifts.

I do get to borrow his '04 Lexus LS430 - I am so in love with that car - and occasionally drive stepmoms' 04' Honda Pilot.

I drive a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. We are looking to trade it in on something in a similar size range this year. DH drives our 2005 Dodge Caravan - which we bought mainly for the dogs. We went on vacation last year and had to take two cars - we couldn't fit our luggae, 2 dogs, 2 crates, and all of the dog gear in one vehicle. We knew then that it was time to trade one of our cars for a bigger vehicle.

[QUOTE=K8IE]Oh, cool thread! I drive a 2005 jet black MINI Cooper! (Can't beat the mileage, 40 MPG!) Must say, it is the best, safest, most incredibly fun ride I have ever owned, and I have had a lot of cars! /QUOTE]

Lucky you!! I am green with envy

DH and I looked at the MINI since I am currently driving 83 miles round trip to work each day and my Jeep Liberty is killing me in gas. The only thing is I was concerned because it is so "MINI" and I have two 75lb boxers that I have to take to the kennel and to the vet and it didnt look like they would fit in there to well.
Also, safety was a concern. I feel really safe in my Liberty and since I am on the highway for the entire ride to and from work I was concerned about it being, again, so "MINI" that I might make out better in my Liberty since it sits higher up.

You would probably be surprised to know that the MINI is one of the safest cars out there! 6 airbags, steel reinforcement everywhere and more spot weld points than most SUV's! (Of course I know this since my DH is a "motoring advisor" for MINI). He has had SO many customers get in horrible wrecks and they walk away without a scratch and come right back to buy another MINI. The craziest one is a customer who fell asleep and hit a parked dump truck going 65 MPH and didn't get a scratch! There are some really good crash test comparisons online (one with a Ford F-150) it is unbelievable! If you put both seats down in the back there is plenty of room for two boxers, as it is, I have a 6 year old and I put him in one side of the back, and Killian on the other side with the seat down. BTW, they are also coming out with some new, bigger body styles in 07!!

WOW!!! I am surprised to hear how safe they are. I use to drive a Mitsubishi Eclipse and now that I have the Jeep it just feels safe sitting up alittle higher.
Im sure it is just in my head, but driving on the highway everyday where you have to drive atleast 70-75 mph to keep up, I think I am alittle fearful to be sitting so low. Although the gas mileage would be sooooo much better!!!!
Not to meantion I have gotten spoiled with all the room I have in the Liberty.
I did fall in love with that MINI though
Who knows, maybe when I am ready to trade in the Jeep I will consider one.

Thanks a bunch for the info. Maybe you should become a MINI saleswoman

Hey, no prob. DH says I should work there too. As you can see, we are huge fans of the car, for more than one reason. I have had some big vehicles, Yukon, Pathfinder, Xterra, pickups, and I feel so safe in my MINI, they are just so well made and solid. It is a bit of an adjustment going from being up higher, to being down lower, but NOTHING handles like a MINI, so as far as getting out of a sticky situation, you have a much better chance at avoiding an accident in the first place. SUV's will flip over before you have a chance to manuever like you can in a MINI. Give them a chance, and for sure drive one if you haven't yet, you will see what I mean. Oh, and as far as resale value, they are the best. DH sold his last MINI for what he paid for it brand new 2 years earlier, and that is unheard of with pretty much any other car!
