Unhappy Another ignorant "breeder"

I spent quite a bit of time at two different emergency pet clinics this week and was saddened to see so many injured and ill pets. The most tragic, perhaps, was a dog named Nala. I was in the waiting room while I heard the receptionist giving directions over the phone to a person whose dog was having trouble with labor. When the owner walked in with this poor dog, I was so saddened. She had a rope tied tightly around her neck and was so scared. A thick green goop made it hard for Nala to see.

The owner proceeded to tell the front desk that Nala was pregnant, didn’t know how far along and that she thought she’d been in labor for about 36 hours. She said that Nala had been out by the oleander (poisonous, by the way) acting funny and panting. They asked how old is Nala? –“almost two”, what breed? – “I’m not sure but she’s mixed with Blue Heeler and her last litter had some spotted ones” (good grief she’s not even two and you let this happen twice!). Who is her veterinarian? – “oh, she doesn’t really have one”. How can anyone be this ignorant and cruel? I can’t help think about what happened to poor Nala and her puppies. It just sickens me that people can do this not once but twice and that poor Nala may have to go through this again.

Oh poor Nala. I wish people would smarten up! Sending positive vibes to this sweet girl with hopes that she finds a new home that won't allow this to continue.

ignorant people

I have been in the pet industry for over 18 yrs. I have seen and heard of many people basically giving their pets little or no medical care. We live in a disposable society. On the other hand, I also operate a pet cemetery, where I see many devoted pet owners (from mice to dogs). These are frustrating times.
