Question

Is there a way to put a return receipt (so you know when someone views the e-mail you have sent to them) on a piece of e-mail going to a network/server other than your own? I'm on AOL and the person I'm sending to is on another network; a cable hookup and I need to know IF and WHEN he reads my message. Any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks!

I am not too sure but if I remember well with Microsoft Outlook Express/Exchange it is possible to ask for a return receipt anonymously, with Eudora it is possible not to send the return receipt (you get a message asking you if you agree to let the sender know you got or read the email). If you want to check someone read your message, write it on a web page that has stats tags and send to this person the link. You would know if he clicked the link from the counter/stats log.

Most email programs will allow a return receipt, unfortunately AOL only allows you to check addresses within AOL. You would have to set up another account with a different ISP and, like Olly said, it depends on the software that they are using as well.
