Have you ever tasted vegemite? If so, what is your opinion about it?
Thanks

Wink

I like it! But there again, I was brought up on Marmite in England, which is not much different. I was told that Vegemite was the scrapings of the wine barrels after draining out all the wine! That was when we were in Adelaide, Australia, on holiday one year.

How did you eat it? With a bread or mixed to hot water?

We had it on bread and butter, it was more of a savoury taste than sweet. That was just after the 2nd.world war, as everything was rationed we had to be glad of whatever we could get. When I said bread and butter, it was what we would call bread and 'scrape', because that was what our mother did to make it go further! But, I still have some marmite whenever I go back, so it couldn't have been too bad.

My sister and her husband, who live in Perth, brought a jar of Vegomite with them when they came to visit the first time - were quite surprised to find that we have it in the stores here in Canada! He ate it spread on a slice of toast for breakfast!
