I bought a hoover bagless at target for 150.00. There was a pet model there for a few bucks more, but with my short haired dogs, it didn't seem any more functional.

Get the dyson if you think it is a several-year investment. But if you don't think twice about replacing the vacuum every so many years, then opt for the hoover. But I wouldn't spend more for a pet model if you only have boxer hair to worry about.

Personally, I would go for the Hoover and spend my savings on the dogs! LOL

Rugs are so-so but definitely far from good. And now with having a dog for the last year i've felt like I need a new one more than ever. After reading all the great things you all have been saying about it I want it more than I did before...
My husband was the same way. Finally, one day I just went out and splurged on my Dyson Animal. When he came home I showed him what our new vaccum picked up AFTER I had vacuumed with my old vaccum. He decided then and there that it was probably worth it! I can't say enough about the Dyson Animal. I LOVE IT!

I totally agree. I had vacuumed my couch with my old vac the day we got the dyson. Then I re-vacuumed w/ the Dyson and it was AMAZING…and that was just the couch! The dyson works great on hardwood & tile floor too!

I love a clean house and I don't want to have to purchase another vacuum for a long time. I see there are two different ones for animal DC25 and DC28. Any preference from you owner's? Actually a store nearby has them on sale w/ free shipping. Should make the purchase closer to $400. Thanks again for your time!
The DC25 is a newer version; it rides on a ball so it’s easier to maneuver. I have the older traditional style but I still love it! The upholstery attachment that I have been raving about is actually called the Dyson Mini Turbine Tool (this thing Amazon.com: Dyson Mini Turbine Tool: Kitchen & Dining ). It’s great for furniture and also hard to reach places like stairs as well as dog beds! My animal came with this attachment…I don’t know if all models include it so I recommend you double check for that.

Thumbs up

I understand Hoover has a new one....Hoover Platinum. The cost is a little over 200.00 but not as much as a Dyson....I hate Bissells! Hoover was the best vacumn I've owned so far. I would love to have a Dyson myself. According to others here, it is well worth it. Maybe next time....

We're huge Dyson fans too! We've had our DC14 (I think) Animal for 4 years now, and have nothing but wonderful things to say about it. I have to second EAO76's comment about the AWESOME upholstery attachment. It does an amazing job of getting boxer (and Lab for us) fur off the couch!!

I definitely recommend the Dyson Animal. We got ours years ago, but got it at Bed Bath & Beyond, and used one of their 20% off coupons to save a nice amount of money. Don't know if they still accept coupons on the Dyson, but if they do, it can save you a good bit.

i must agree with the majority here as i also love our dyson but we got ours from my nephew for free(he was getting a newer model) so there was no price problem, had it for 6 yrs and no problems with it.i say go for the dyson if you can.

Maybe I'll have to try that once the holidays are over when we'll have some extra money.
