Ladybugs...
So it's that time of the year again... Ladybugs! I can't stand them! It happens every year but it's been raining for the past 4 or so days and been in the 40s and today is beautiful sunny and in the 60s and I open my door to go outside and like a gust of wind about 20 or more ladybugs come flying in my house that were just on the door. Then I look around and they're EVERYWHERE! Now I know this is going to come every year at the same time but it never makes me any more happy to see that they're back. They always find a way into the house and it drives me nuts. Now it's not that I think they're bad to look at or that it's some gross bug BUT they SMELL! I don't know if anyone else had noticed but when you go to get rid of them they let off a stink on whatever touched them and this smell I find to be horrid. I've talked to other people and and even my husband didn't know they smell until I made him pick one up and now he thinks they're gross too. I'm just sitting here as I type looking out the window and there are hundreds of them flying around everywhere and a few still in my house too. Seems like such a stupid thing to let bother you but it just gets me going every year.
Just as soon as I posted this Dakota licked one that was on the door and spit it out and keeps putting his tongue out like he's trying to get it out still... I guess he doesn't like them either. They must taste as bad as they smell! haha

I just went out again to take Dakota out and a good 30 more came in and fell all over me when I opened the door. UUggghhh you know it wouldn't bother me so much if there were just a few here and there but this is just rediculous and I think this is the worst it's ever been. And just when I think i've gotten them all 10 more appear. It's like "The Birds" except it's ladybugs!!

How strange. I know ladybugs are good for getting rid of garden pests, but here in Dallas I only see them very occasionally.

Ha ha ha! I have noticed my dogs wiping their tongues when they catch a lady bug. So they must taste gross! But that is so weird that you have that many of them! We have hardly any here. As a matter of fact I usually buy a bag of live lady bugs from Home Depot to add to my garden because they take care of other pests.

DH and I were just talking about this the other night. Here in Ohio the weather has been so mild and now darn right cold that we didn't get the lady bugs this fall. Well, they aren't really the lady bugs we usually think of, they are a Japanese variety instead. I have only seen 2 of them this entire fall. The cat decided to eat one and ended up spewing it all over the rug. Yuck!

I saw my first one yesterday.......we don't get them in the hundreds, more in the "tens" but it is no fun cleaning out all my window sills and ceiling lights (how do they get up there?????) when they finally leave.

We had an invasion of those Japanese ladybugs a couple of years ago. They were rather gross. What colour is your house. They are attracted by white walls and doors. They originally nested on white cliffs and that is why they are attracted by white. If your door is white you might want to change the color. Then they might not be quite so inclined to fly inside. Just a thought.

That's very interesting.. My whole house is a light tan and I do infact have a white door and also white windows. They were also flocking to my RV which is also white. I lost my mind yesterday.. it was by far the worst it's ever been. I ended up with at least 100 in my house. I'm just hoping today won't be so bad.

It's just not the States. I'm in Ontario, Canada. At work yesterday I went outside, and looked down and saw a lady bug. Ok....then another one.....then another one.....then another one....they were all over the place. It was mild out yesterday though. Today is a little bit cooler and I haven't seen one yet this morning.

well so much for today not being so bad.. I haven't even opened the door and there are 37 that i've counted already in my house. Obviously my door isn't sealed completely. I'm assuming that's where they're coming from since most of them are around that area. oh well just take a deep breath I guess....
