Lose neighbors dogs
I have a problem and not sure how to proceed. I have a neighbor 5 houses down that has 3 small terriers. He is always letting his dogs out all day long and all they do is bark.
When I let my dogs out in the morning, they all seem to be smelling around and marking all over the place. I had no idea what was going on other than maybe a dog was visiting at night and my dogs smell him and mark their turf again. Well, the last three nights I sit by my bedroom window to smoke and low and behold, those three dogs where in my yard. They are very quiet and sneaking around sniffing my dogs I guess.
My situation is that once I had to return one of his dogs cause he was outside the fenced in area while my dogs were inside the area and they were barking up a storm. When I took his dog back, he said "I didn't know he would go that far." I explained to him that though 2 of my dogs are very friendly and wouldn't hurt his dogs, the 3rd one, the boxer, is inpredictable and dog aggressive. I wouldn't guarentee that Lily wouldn't attack his dog if on my property since she is extremely protective of it. Now this man isn't the brightest bulb in the box and certainly doesn't have the money to put in a fence of any sort. And I do admit I feel a bit sorry for the guy, but.....
So......seeing that his dogs are on my property late at night. And I take my dogs out late at night for their last potty break. What are my legal obligations if Lily would break away and attack his dog? Bella would pull but listen to me to stay. Buster would pull til he ripped my arm off and go say hi but be safe with the other dog. Lily would just take off and rip the leash from my hand and probably attack the poor dog. Though I would hate for this to happen, I can't say I didn't warn the guy.
My dogs are always on a leash or in the fenced in yard. If I am in the house, I have a window open so I can hear them if they start to act up. Usually if they do, it's cause the other dogs are out in their yard. Those dogs do stay in their yard when the owner is out, but as soon as he goes in, the dogs wander the neighborhood.
I hate that his dogs poop and pee all over my yard. It is screwing up my dogs plans. LOL Plus they are appearantly kibble fed cause their poop stays forever, petrified and a permanent fixture. I love that my raw feeders poop disinigrates in short order.
Sorry to babble here, but I am just not sure what to do about this situation. Any suggestions?

I don't have any advise but we have a similar problem here. We live in the country and the relatively new neighbors across the street have 3 JTR, 2 of which they leave loose for short periods of time. My biggest fear is that they are going to get hit on the road because they show no street saavy and just run across to our house willy nilly. We don't have a fence in yard but our dogs are never out without us. But sometimes if we are in the front yard the JRT's come out and stand at the edge of the road and bark at mine. So we are then forced to go inside so that I know mine won't take off after them. The other problem is when they come in our yard and my three all stand against the picture window barking at them. I'm afraid one of mine is going to go through it someday!

How are they getting in your yard? At our last house, the neighbor had two shepherds that constantly squeezed themselves under the chain link fence into our yard. They would also get in the yard on the other side and ended up attacking the bulldog who lived there. We ended up buying garden rails attached the bottom of the fence to it so they couldn't get under it anymore. If you can figure out how they're getting in, you can remove their access.

My entire yard isn't fenced in, just a 20' x 20' section and they don't go in there cause I keep the gate closed. All the yards are flat and accessible to each other, with nothing inbetween. So I can see how a dog would love to wander about.
It's really annoying when I finally fall asleep and my dogs start going bazerk around midnight cause one, two or all three of the dogs are in our yard. I kinda feel captive after dark now. I worry every time I take one of the dogs out that they will suddenly take off on me. I have a bad back and a torn muscle in my shoulder already from them yanking the lead. I just feel like next time, I need to let go and let what happens, happen. I can't keep falling down or ending up in emergency cause their damn dogs can't stay on their own property and my dogs are doing what they are supposed to do and that's protect their turf.
Having two bully breeds and one very protective frankenbreed can be a problem I guess. But only if something is where it doesn't belong.....like on my property. People, dogs, squirrels, rabbits, objects thrown from passing cars, trash, twigs......whatever it is, if it wasn't there yesterday, it shouldn't be there today, so they must attack it! LOL Never been a problem til these darn dogs!
