So IRRITATED!!!!!!
I am getting soooooo sick of stupid people!!!! I posted in the feeding forum about how it irritates me when people feed their dogs/cats crappy food, and when I try to explain why it's crap, they just laugh or say something stupid. Well, today, I was even more annoyed. I HATE when people say they have a purebred dog when it's a mix, like a labradoodle, puggle, whatever, I absolutely HATE it!!!! Well, this girl in my RN class who sits behind me has been showing me pictures of her "puggle". She was showing me pics today, and I asked how old he was. She said he was 4 months, so I was like "oh, he can get neutered soon". She said she wasn't going to neuter him, that was the first thing that pissed me off, grrrrrrrrrrrrr. I asked her why, and she said because she lived in a condo, WTF!!!! What does that have to do with anything???? I just shook my head at her, I was speechless. And, then she goes on to also tell me that he is AKC registered, and she might breed him!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!! I wanted to go off, but I couldn't in class. I said, "oh really, I didn't think mixes were accepted by the AKC", and she said they were now. She said she had papers for her "puggle". I have nothing against mix breeds, but the fact she is saying it has papers and is AKC registered, and she isnt going to neuter it, I am so pissed. I don't think there is anything I can say to her to get thru to her. It's so freaking frustrating. I don't know why I let this stuff bother me. Anyone else like this? How do you not let it bother you? Any ideas what I can say to her? She shows me pictures sometimes, so I could say something else when she shows me pictures. Should I print something off to give to her, or would I look totally rude? I just figured you guys would understand my frustrations. I just needed educated and informed people to rant to!!!!

I feel your pain... I am a groomer and have lost a few clients, because I refuse to write their little dumb names for their mixes. Schnoodle, Labradoodle, Chi-Poo, etc etc.... Schnauzer mix, Poodle mix, Chihuahua mix--Period!
You are correct a Puggle is not accepted by the AKC and I don't see it ever happening. Your friend probably has CKC (Continental not Canadian Kennel Club) papers. Continental will register anything for the right fee. We have a local Pet Store that sells so many puppies and many are mixes with fancy names. People are paying $800-$1000 for mutts??? And they pay even more ridiculous prices for the puppy mill bred purebreds.
Dumb and gullible people! Ask to see her AKC papers----not possible.

Okay so call me ignorant but I had not heard of a puggle before so I googled it! Ha ha deary me when the words pocket puggle designer dog came up I couldn't help but laugh! I wouldn't let it get to you some people are in their own dog world! My pet hate is little dog owners asking me if my boy is friendly as their little dog barks and growls like crazy..hmm shouldn't I be asking that?!!

This destroys me... so bear with me... There is actually a "pet store" around where I live called "THE PUPPY PATCH". This store sells mostly mixed breed "designer dogs" and the clothes to go with them (as if they're Barbies). They create every name from "lhasa-apso-doodles" to "Chi-a-poms" to "pomadoodles".... (can't even follow).... But it appalls me ... and more-so that so many people go there thinking "I'm getting myself a 'pure bred' designer dog"... when really they are paying more than top dollar for a mixed breed. I'm not even so sure how these people get "buffaloed", but the place is always packed. So I totally understand your frustrations... I can see that (at least around here) It's definately going to take irresponsible breeding to an all new level (which is very concerning). No matter what I say to educate any people I know who go there, it doesn't seem to phase them. If anyone has any suggestions of how to address this, please advise. Thanks.

I just tell them that I saw one exactly like there's at the pound for $37. They soon stop talking to me about their 'designer' dog.
PS - I am not a 'full-bred' snob, I just think it is silly the money some people are spending on these breeds.

Some people have no brain power at all. When I run into "designer dog" people I just tend to ignore there raving. I love mutts. Had mutts all my life. I only really remember one of them and he was the best dog ever. my boxers are the only full bred dogs I have ever owned. And that is because DH was raised with full bred dogs and only wanted a full bred. I have now become hooked on boxers, they are such wonderful dogs. But anyway......designer dogs are mutts and there is no way I could ever think any differently. But people tend to believe what they want to believe and I have found that not much can steer them away from that.

My mom adopted a "Yorkie-Poo" from a rescue on Saturday for a $125 fee (my harping about never buying another dog when there are so many who need rescuing finally rubbed off on her!). I told her she got a steal because some idiots would pay over $500 for a little "designer" mutt like hers She got a kick out of that. Edie is a very cute little mutt but we all know that's exactly what she is I will say that some of the "designer" breeds are precious but I don't think a puggle is one of them and the bottom line is that they're all mutts!!! Fortunately, I haven't really had to deal with anyone bragging about a mutt...
