I found my first gray at about 18 years old and started dying my hair then. I am now 42 and have been dye free for almost a year. I have a lot of gray in the front but hardly any in the back. My hair grows extremely fast and I had a hard time keeping the roots covered.

I found my first greys 3 years ago, at 34. I was stopped at a red light and looked into the rear view mirror and saw what I thought was a clump of very blonde hair. It was summer, and my hair gets blonder in the sun, but upon closer inspection, I realized that it was not very blonde hair, but very grey hair. That day was also the first time I ever colored my hair - bought a box of Ms. Clairol and washed that grey right outta my hair.

I found my first gray hairs when I was about 23. I have sort of a weird hair color with some parts blonder, others redder, so you can't REALLY see the gray... but they all grow in the same place, just above the right side of my forehead. You can only see them if you look very closely, but there are more and more it seems! For anyone who knows X-Men, I just might end up like Rogue and her white strand of hair

I found my first grey hair at 36, too, standing straight up on the top of my head, very hard to miss!! As of today, well over 20 years later, I'm afraid the grey/white/silver has almost completely taken over!

I thought that question would generate some comments

I am surprised we get grey hair at some very young age.
Currently I have about 30 grey hair (at 37 years old) and losing them too.

i was 35 and was in a state of panic.i could'nt believe it i started plucking them..now i colar all the time,ya getting old is a real hoot

It hasn't happened yet.. but I will be 30 in May so I am sure my days are numbered, LOL. I am a redhead though, so hopefully I will keep my color longer than if I had dark hair. We will see.......

Ugh! I will be the big 30 in July and have already found several grey hairs! I try to put blame on my stressful job! I do have it colored on a bi-monthly basis... but they still grow in grey! I'm realizing that in the end... there is no escape.

I don't remember when exactly I found the first one, but it's been within the past few years. I'm 31 now and have about 5 or 6 sprout up just within the past few months.

I try to keep my hair highlighted, but I went to a dark color over the winter. Now the color is fading and the gray hairs really seem to stick out. Guess it's time to go back to blonde!
