Christmas- ready or not? - Page 3

Christmas is going to be tight this year. DH works for Chrysler and is layed off for 2 weeks. Auto is not looking to good. We have 4 children, 9 grandchildren and 1 greatgrand daughter. I think I am going to fix goody baskets for the adults and only spending about $25.00 per grandkid.

My mom does goody bags for my family and my sis' family. That is my favorite part of Christmas! She makes caramel corn, peanut brittle, fudge and several kinds of cookies. She also gives the kids jars of her homemade applesauce!

I have only gotten 4 things for DS. Two of which are only stocking stuffers, but he really will love them. DH got laid off last thursday so I don't know how much more I will be able to get. I so far am not in any kind of Holiday spirit. I usually really look forward to Thanksgiving, one of my favorite Holidays, but this year I don't even know if it will happen b/c of my Mother's recent surgery. It really is hard to get excited when the stress of this economy is all you can think of. Feeling pretty Bah Humbug myself..

I myself will probably get a majority of things at the dollar stores and goodwill. Thankfully my kids understand. My oldest DD (22yrs old) has told me for the last 4 years not to get her much. Just get lots for my youngest DD. She said if she wants anything, she can buy it. My mom is having Thanksgiving, so I am going to make dessert and take. It will not be alot of people. My 2 DD, mom, dad, me and Mike and of course Tyson. DD's boyfriends too. But they have other dinners to go to also, so it will mostly be just mom, dad, me and BF. My brother and sister live out of state. Really hard on me during the holidays. My sister is in CO and brother in TN.
