I wasn't even close to being born yet when Elvis died. I've lived within an hour and a half of Graceland my whole life and live less than 30 minutes from it now. I never visited until I was 22 and I wasn't all that impressed. I was hoping there would be more to see...

well, I can remember hearing the news, early morning, (before the days of breakfast TV) on the wireless as the old man got ready for work..I was probably doing an early morning feed with one of my boys...They are all grown up now...Trace..I hate my age so don't ask it

I was 13 when the King died. I came home from camp to find my mother crying in front of the televison. She turned to me and said "He's gone...Elvis is gone". At first I thought "he never came here" (small town Cornwall..ya right!). Dad came in probably 3 min. behind me and mom says "can you believe this Ray..he died..he's gone" and then he walked over to mom and hugged her while she weeped uncontrollably, and I realized then that Elvis died. I bawled my eyes out. I may have been 13, but we would huddle in front of the TV and watch his concerts and movies and I swore I was gonna marry him..I had such a bad crush.

I was almost 5 yrs old. I vaugely remember my parents talking about it and watching the news on tv. No tears that I recall.
On another note...Kansas City has an annual Elvis parade! I am not much of an Elvis fan, but the parade rocks!! It is by far one of the most fun parades ever. The 20th annual Elvis parade is tomorrow, 12th and central, downtown KC. If there are any KC BW members, call in sick and go to the parade. I'm bummed I have to miss it this year.

I was 14 and at the neighbor's. I don't remember anyone crying but I know my friend was really bummed because he was a huge Elvis fan.

I was 25 and DH and I were just going into a bathroom store to pick out a new toilet and bath etc when we heard the news on the radio in the parking lot. OMG I couldn't believe my ears. I love and will always love the KING.
