Linda, we gotta stick together, I'll be 55 in July! I have loved Boxer's ever since my uncle gave my family one when I was 10 or 11 years old. Her name was Greta, and when I was finally able to have a Boxer, I named her Greta! I am single, and a registered nurse, in the medical and respiratory intensive care unit. And, I also teach nursing to senior nursing students at a local university. I love being a nurse! Never a boring moment! I own my own home, and love to putter around it, especially in the garden. I love spring, and am planning my garden and daydreaming about plants, fountains, and warm weather. I love to come to this site to learn about Boxers and everything else we talk about. I also love to read-especially about dogs/Boxers, dog training, gardening, and people watching. I don't have any children, but every kid in the neighborhood plays in my yard with my dogs! Works out great, when I grow tired of the noise and such, I can send them home! When the kids are over, I teach them how to interact with the dogs, and vice versa, works out beautifully.

Talking Re: Tell Us About Yourself!

hi everyone! My name is Farrah, Im almost 22..got 2 months to go Im from a small town in Northeast Louisiana but want to move after school to experience life elsewhere. I currently am in my last semester of school (thank God!) I am graduating with a degree in Social Work but am planning on getting my masters in Social Work or Family and Marriage Counseling. I live with my boyfriend of 3 1/2 years, Michael. We plan on getting married soon but I want to finish school and he is getting his photography business up and running so we are waiting. I am so crazy about animals!! All of our friends joke with me that all homeless ones find me and they really do. I hate to see animals being mistreated or left to fend for themselves which led me to volunteer at my local animal shelter as much as possible..this is where I found out about Molly. Molly's owners did not want her and left her chained up in the backyard all the time (so sad) we gladly adopted her about 2 months ago and it has been a roller coaster ride ever since but I love it! I have always had small dogs so this was a big change but now I am a boxer lover and cannot wait to add Ernie (we have already named him and dont even have him..like I said I am animal crazy hehe) to our family. Anyways, I am so glad I found all of you. You have given me sooo much advice and make me feel so informed. I hope to get to know you all better!

Smile Re: Tell Us About Yourself!

I'm new to this site, only been a member for 1 week. I joined the day we brought Gracie May home. She is so intelligent. We have been crate training for around 24 hours and my how she has picked up on it. She slept in her crate all night with out a wimper. She woke twice to potty, outside, the first time I took her out at around 1:00 in the morning and Mom took her out around 3:00 and then I took her again at 6:30 am. Today (3-30) she sat on command for the first time for me. I was just about to pop with pride at that accomplishment. We have been working with her on sit for around 3 days.

Gracie starts potty training class tomorow and then puppy kindergarden on the 7th of April. I think she is begining to grasp going to the door to go out to potty. After her afternoon meal she went strait to the door, usually she would come out of the kitchen where we feed her and squat where ever she stopped. Today she went to the door right after she ate. I'm not saying that accidents don't happen, she is only 8 weeks old.

Re: Tell Us About Yourself!

Well I guess I can say Im one of the youngest here?!? Im Cassandra, 21 yrs old. My DH and I live in Rogers, Arkansas. We have been married for 1 year. Kids are in our future, but thats 2 years away or so. DH is a firefighter (thats where my screen name is from) and I work for a national trucking company, where I work in marketing. I am finishing a degree in aviation...yes I am a pilot, and hope one day to fly as a job.

Addie came into our lives after a year of begging DH for a boxer. We were both in love with the breed. Finally one day, my landlord said yes we could get a puppy. And once we found our breeder we had our Addie! DH and I have wanted a boxer for so long, somedays I can hardly believe shes finally here. Addie is supposed to be my company for when DH is on shift (24hr shifts). So far just having her around is a great comfort. And now Im crazy for the breed, I cant wait to get her a brother to play with! DH says thats 1 year away though.

Re: Tell Us About Yourself!

This is a great thread - getting a chance to get to know each other a little bit!

My name is Megan and I'm 42. I've been married to my DH Seth for 14 years and we have one little girl named Hailey, who just turned six. We still marvel at how she ended up with blonde hair and blue eyes, since I have auburn hair w/brown eyes and Seth has brown hair w/hazel eyes!

I wish I could say that I have some kind of illustrious career, but I'm simply a stay home Mom (which I NEVER thought I'd say about myself! ) . We live in the relatively small town of Duvall - which is about 30 miles NE of Seattle, WA (for reference). I've lived in or around Seattle all of my life and I really love it here - rain and all!

Ronin is our third Boxer, however DH grew up as having Boxers as the family dog, so there was absoutely no question as to what breed of dog to get for our first pet! Now I'd never even consider owning another breed of dog

Re: Tell Us About Yourself!

Hi everybody. I'm Sandy, 46 yrs old and married to John a firefighter for 24 years. Together we have been blessed with three amazing sons (DON'T tell them I said that!) Billy, Jeff & Mike.

I've been so fortunate, I was able to run an in-home day-care while my boys were growing up, and so I was able to be a stay-at-home mom, the busiest job I ever had! With 3 sons very close in age it was scouts, sports, friends, etc. Somehow those years passed in a whirlwind...I blinked and they all grew up.

When the boys became teens I started a faux-finishing business and was lucky enough to enjoy a very busy career for 9 years before shoulder damage told me it was time to move on. But I like change and that's ok.

Hobbies include gardening, reading, playing with anyone's kids that I can get a hold of and the same with dogs. They are all welcome! I grew up with poodles and dare I say it...mutts, all loving and well-loved dogs.

Indy is the 3rd boxer who has agreed to live with our family. Rocky , Rascal and now Indy share so much fun, love and sheer personality, they do indeed make our family complete.

Re: Tell Us About Yourself!

That was fun getting to know everyone!
About me...
I am 24 years old and married. We don't have any kids, but cannot wait to have a baby! We are saving up a little more money, but will probably start trying in the very near future.
My DH and I met on a firing range. Weird place to meet, but we were both members of the criminal justice student association at our university. I got my bachelors degree three years ago, and didn't use it, but became a full time dog trainer. I love my job!!! My DH went to law school and is a deputy district attorney. He is a very hard worker and I am proud of him, but I don't get to see him very much, which is sad. As a trainer I work nights and weekends, because that is when people take classes, and he works 6am-6pm M-F. On my two days off I spend my time going to the nursing home with my dog doing therapy work, volunteering at the shelter and taking pics for petfinder, going to the gym, belly dancing classes, reading, and trying to relax a little.

I have two rescue shelter rabbits Texas and Oscar (which explains my name), two rescue cats, and my rescue boxer. I adopted her from the shelter that I volunteer at. This was before I was volunteering, my DH and I were looking for a boxer because we loved the breed. Our first trip to the shelter Roxie was closed off in a kennel where people couldn't see her, but when we walked by she jumped up and peeked her head over the wall so we could see her and fell in love. We think it was fate, because she never ever jumps. She said, that's my mommy and daddy and peeked over so we could see her. We took her home the same day.

Talking Re: Tell Us About Yourself!

Hey everybody! My name is Faye and I'm 37 and live in central TX. I've been here with my bf for 7 years. There have been lots of ups and downs but all is good in life right now. I was born and raised in South Louisiana.
I have a daughter, 19 and in college in Louisiana.
I have one fur baby, Buddy. He'll be two in Aug. My bf thought I needed company because he works so much. He was right! He surprised me at work with Buddy. He was underfed and undernourished as a baby but is healthy and happy now. He's the best dog I've ever had. That's why he's spoiled rotten. I just tell people he has us trained well.
I work for the electric company here in our small town and I love my job. We're like BW, just one big family.
I haven't been able to get on the site as much lately due to overtime when weather is bad and work we've been doing around the house. But I look forward to getting to know y'all.

Re: Tell Us About Yourself!

Interesting thread to read after reading everyone's posts for so long!

Here goes....I am Tracey, 47, divorced and living in Mississippi. I am originally from California but moved here for a great job and have been here ever since. I work for the electric utility here. I was married for a long time, but never had any kids. I joke with my friends that the only good thing I got out of being married was a boxer! Now I have three! I used to have Lahso Apsos, what a big difference. I love playing with my dogs, gardening, and walking. I have a great BF that I have been with for a while and we love to travel and cook together. Life is good. Life with boxers is even better.
