Bread, Pasta, Chocolate, Ice Cream, Cheesecake...
all things I want and can't have. I am on a diet trying to lose 20 pounds. I swear to the Heavenly Father I would mug someone on the street if I saw them holding any of the above listed items!!!! This is my first ever diet, I've always been very slim, but I need a little slimming down after my last pregnancy. This dieting thing is HARD. The worst part is that you can't just go off it after you lose the weight, it has to become a lifestyle. Instead of daydreaming about tropical vacations or a nice nap, I sit in my office and fantasize about going to Dairy Queen for a hot fudge sundae!!! This is horrible, anyone else in the same boat?

I FEEL YOUR PAIN!
I have had a constant struggle with my weight since I quit smoking in Feb. I tell people that yes I might have made my lungs healther by stopping smoking but my teeth are going to rot out from all the candy/gum. I have found that I couldn't be sucessful avoiding my favorite food. I would end up doing great for a few weeks and then going off the deep end and just eating everything I wanted to. What I found that does good for me is to diet and eat right durning the week and reach my goals then on the weekends I "treat" myself in "moderation" of course. I am happy with my weight now, only if I could get rid of my Kanaroo pouch that my son left behind. My mom has taken a picture of her in her swim suit and put it on the fridge to keep reminding her not to eat the bad things, not me I would not want all my house guests to be terrified from the sight of me in a swimsuit.
Good Luck!

You poor thing.
After my last kid was born I decided that I needed to loose the extra weight.
It was seeing myself in the photos of my new born baby that made me decide.
My hubby kept saying - your fine as you are - but if we are not happy with the way we look, then we should do something about it. Also the extra weight can cause health problems.
Anyway I started the Herbalife diet and lost 28 inches around my body & 7 kg.
Then I started smoking again after 3 years, so I donīt know if it was the diet or the smoking. But when your on a diet you eat healthier anyway so maybe these magical milkshakes and pills are doing nothing at all. I drank at least 3 litres of water a day and of course that is going to fill you up, so you donīt feel hungry anyway. I also started yoga and working out at the gym. I actually had abīs. Anyway I managed to keep the weight off by eating sensibly although I do enjoy the out take away.
It is worth it in the long run to eat healthier, not just for yourself but also for your family.
so keep up the good work and stay away from the forbidden goodies.

I did Weight Watchers a few years ago and lost almost 40 lbs. The one thing I liked was that you didn't have to deprive yourself. My friend and I would go weigh in, then go get a pizza! Just that one day, I'd treat myself. It was easy to behave yourself when you know you have a reward coming. Good luck on your weight loss! It's tough, but when you see the pounds coming off, it's even more motivation.

Too true!!!
Let me put it this way, if I was meant to be slender I would be 6' tall instead of 5'1". Go for healthy, but don't forget to have enough cheesecake to be happy either!

I have lost 1st 10 lbs, probably partly due to my marriage break up but what I do is have one day a week where I just eat whatever I fancy ~ don't think 'diet' they don't work, it's about changing what you eat for life, don't deny yourself your fave's, you will only get miserable.

That is exactly what I do! I think of it as a diet vacation and I get very excited about it each week.

i know how you feel, for the last 6 months hubby and i have been on a diet, he's lost 62 pounds and i've lost 36 pounds and its hard work. we have found like the others say allow yourself the occassionaly treat if you want a piece of cheesecake have it but make sure it's a small piece and that you only do it once a week it will help with the cravings. i'm trying to lose the weight to help me fall pregnant through ivf i've given myself till end of january to lose another 28 pounds or a little more so for us it is a life style change i've said to my hubby we will be on a maintenance diet for life once we reach our goal weights and i have to admitt the food we are eating and the portions aren't that bad its just that he and i are pigs
i have found the key for me is to make sure i drink atleast 2ltrs of water per day and to do some sort of exercise.
good luck in your mission. i'm sure if you have always been slim you'll be back to your old weight very soon.
