Met a 3-legged dog at dog park yesterday

I met the sweetest lil baby yesterday. His name was Wiley and he's a German Shepherd. I noticed him entering the dog park, and I first glance I couldn't tell what was wrong with him, but knew something wasn't right. When he got closer, I realized, the poor baby only had three legs; he was missing his back right leg. My heart just broke for him. He seemed to manage fairly well though. I went and spoke to the woman who was with him. She told me his name, and of course I had to ask about his leg. She said he was a rescue and he had been kept in horrid conditions. He was on a chain, and it had somehow gotten wrapped around his leg, and had to be amputated. She also said his neck had a chain that was imbedded into the flesh. When they first got him, they almost put him down, but he had such a strong spirit, they amputated the leg to see how he would do. Such a trooper!

The good news is he's now with a very loving mama and seems to get along okay. He was such a sweetie and let me love on him. Mama said that it was rare for him to let people get so close and comfortable with him, he usually shied away from most people. I guess he could tell that I'm really a dog at heart

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too.

How sweet does this little guy sound!! It's so sad that he had such a rough start in life, and has to live without a leg, but now it seems he has found a great home. It was a heartwarming story, it made me smile
