Question So do you think he's a mix?

He's 5 1/2 months old. He was re homes twice before he got to me so he had no papers or anything when i recieved him. The couple assured me that he was pure bred but sometimes I wonder. It does t matter. He's not a show dog he's a family pet but I'm really just curious. He's in my avatar.

It hard to tell from the avatar. A sideways head shot would help.

Smile Update*

I found out today. I took him to the vet and had his shots done and while there, the vet informed me he is BullBoxer. That's Boxer and Pit Bull. I thought I'd mind but I don't. I love him so much that it doesn't matter.

As one owned by a pit/boxer, I love his personality and behaviors so much. I think out of any mix, this is the best!!! They are super clowns with high intense energy! He makes me laugh at least 5 times a day! Your boy looks more boxer, where my boy looks more pit bull. But the insides are the same crazy, funny, goofy, over the top loving dogs!!!

I had a Pit/Boxer/Mix... Her mom was pitmix and dad was pure boxer. She was the sweetest dog. Sadly we lost her when she was 10 to cancer. She had all of the Boxer traits but looked like a pit in the face.. She's the reason I now own a pure boxer.

Yeah my vet just raved over him. It doesn't bother me but breaking it to my husband won't be easy. He is one of "those" people. Pit bulls frighten him. He loves our boy too so hopefully it won't matter that there's some PB in there with all that boxer.

I love pitties. But many people don't. I would be very careful who you are telling that your dog has pit in it. This includes insurance companies.

Is he short or tall? If he is on the tall side, I would tell people he is a boxer/dane mix instead. The first time I saw him I thought dane mix, but without body shots it's hard to say.

I hope either way, you are prepared for all the haters. Some people call pure bred boxer show dogs pits cause they don't know what a pit is. All they know is they are afraid of the big bad monster known as the pitbull.

How does the vet know he is a bullboxer? Is he just going by looks?

Jan is correct.

There is no way to just say he is half pit. He could be half boxer and have 10 different other breeds. There is no way to know.

I have been around 100's of Pit Bulls. Characters with personalities similar to Boxers. Fun little guys. It is sad what BAD owners have done to the breed.

I am not one of "those" people terrified of Pit Bulls. It's a shame what they have to go through now just because they have had some aweful owners. Yes, the vet is going solely based on looks. Bowser has a giant head...so I believe him. LOL. I will tell no one that he is a bullboxer simply because I don't want him treated or looked at "that way" he's my baby.
