I've read recently on here that it is genetically impossible for a boxer to black well about 8each months ago my moms pure bred (papers and bloodline to prove it) got mixed up with my brothers boxer the only thing is my brothers dog is black as night with the normal white markings a fawn boxer has we were also told he was purebred and he looks like a boxer acts like a boxer well anyways she had a litter of 12a and I got one all white head chest feet and fawn body but now im worried he might not be a purebred I don't plan on breeding him or showing but am just curious if anyone has any input

Just google sealed brindle boxer and it will send you to a forum on here explaining why your boxer looks solid black. I don't think you have anything to worry about him not being pure bred

I agree, a reverse brindle can look black.
However, please encourage you mother and brother to spay/neuter asap, as well as your own boy and make sure the new owners of all the other puppies do the same.

I know there is a breeder here in east PA that is breeding specifically black boxers. Which is a HUGE NONO! This breeder keeps breeding sealed brindles to acheive the blackest ones and of course, inner-breeding them to get even mutated black ones. When I saw one, I was so heart broken. It looked like a tall boston terrier on steriods. No brindling whatsoever, solid black with flashy paws and chest. The owner was an idiot and paid $4000 for this "rare boxer" and when I tried to tell him about the poor breeding practices he argued every point. I gave up and just walked away shaking my head.

I am sure there are other bad breeders doing this. Again, breeding horribly to achieve mutated dogs just for the purpose of money. And yes, these dogs are AKC registered and listed as black on their papers. Thanks AKC for promoting this type of wreckless breeding. I can't imagine what type of genetic issues and diseases these poor dogs will end up with.

A lot of us first time owners make mistakes. We fall in love with the breed and don't really delve into responsible breeding practices. Especially in PA where every country road has a sign that says "AKC Boxer pups for sale".

Nonetheless, we love our poor bred babies as much as any other owner. BUT, to learn from our mistakes, and do our research BEFORE we buy into the poor breeders, we not only help stop the breeders from making money, hoping to stop from breeding all together, we also help slow down the overcrowding of these AKC registered pups in shelters and rescues.

I am looking forward to seeing the pics. I'm sure he is a beautiful boy regardless of his lineage!

Reverse brindles can look black. You can look up my posts to see photos of my girl - she's a reverse brindle but doesn't have a single stripe on her. Most people just assume she's a black boxer.

I may be just beating a dead horse but what's the difference between a black boxer and reverse brindle. They say that a boxer cannot be black so if there is definetly no brindle at all in the coat and it really is solid black then it can't be a pure bred am I right or wrong.
