Is there a Silk Brindle?

Hello Everyone

Has anyone ever hear of a silk brindle boxer?

i saw a beautiful 4 month old boxer puppy this weekend with the most unusual coloring. He looked completely Black and white. Of course I couldn't help myself go pet the little guy and was talking to his owner about how i have never seen a reverse brindle boxer with so much black and he said he was a silk brindle boxer, they are all almost completely black and white.

I don't suppose you have a photo? What I'm imagining from your description would not be a purebred boxer.

Unfortunately I don't have a picture. But you could be right maybe there was something else mixed in at some point. From his coloring he looked like a boston terrier but the body was all boxer. The black parts had a few brown shimmers in it but no real stripes.
Eitherway he was cute but i just had never seen one with this coloring.

I think in some countries seals are called silkies, and so perhaps a seal (black) brindle could be called a silk, but that's a stretch.

I was surprised at last week's Regional that the super dark brindles have made a comeback again. (NOT talking about solid black dogs, just the depth of the brindling). For a few years they passed out of fashion but I was surprised to see a few last week.

My Cooper is a very dark brindle and his sire is a very successful champion here in the US, so I think that the dark coloring is fairly popular here. He has gotten some more prominent brindling with age (he is 7 months old now). When we first brought him home I had some people ask if he was a Boston. Of course that seemed absurd to me knowing the difference between a Boxer and a Boston, but he was so dark I bet he he did almost look black and white to some people. I have never heard of the "silk" brindle term though.... ( You can see some pics in my gallery..)

I just took a look at the pictures of cooper and this is exactly what he looked like. I guess the guy was just trying to sound special with saying he was a silk boxer.
Cooper is such a beautiful baby by the way. I love this coloring.
