How far in advance?

How far in advance did you prepare your boxers for the new arrival of the baby? Did you carry a doll baby around? Do/Did you have things that the dogs did not like and you would NOT recommend getting or registering for?

I am thinking of getting a swing, but i am worried with how the girls will be.

Any ideas or advice would be great, dan did give me a great article but didnt know if anyone else had an insight.

We brought home a t-shirt from the hospital that our baby had on and let Hahns sniff it all he wanted then gave lots of praise. When we brought our son, Luke, home I did not carry him but had my husband do it so I could give a BIG hello to the dog!!! Then we introduced them and it was love at first site! Boxers just love babies. We had a swing which was no problem but once Luke got a bit bigger and was in a walker he would "chase" poor Hahns and run him down!!! Hahns was totally cool with the whole deal, no worries at all. Hahns would sleep near the cradle from day 1 and stayed near Luke for the next 10 years!!! He is at the bridge now . Best of luke to you!!!

We didn't really prepare all that much. We did bring something home from the hospital for Oz to sniff. Oz has been great, she is only 9 months and on the high energy side but she is very gentle around the baby. She just want to sniff and lick. We have been very good about taking Oz for some special walks while one watches the baby and really letting her just hang around be normal. I would get the swing or whatever else you need and then just train your dogs to stay away. It is working for us.
