Talking ideas for surprising DS with new Furbaby

Hello. Let me first start by saying ths is not another hasty Christmas Decision. My son has wanted a puppy fr the last 5 years. It jst wasn't able to happen either I thought he was to young or we were living in a house that dodnt allow dogs. I used the last several years to research and prepare and now that he is 10 and we are in a pet friendly house I feel we are ready.
I have a 91/2 week old dark brindle girl that is ready to come home at the end of the week. He dosent know about her yet and I am not sure how I want to do it. He still completly whole heartily believes in Santa. That in itself amazes me. Every year I find myself saying this is probably his last year but every year he surprises me. I will take it as long as I can though. One christmas after asking Santa for a puppy (we couldn't get one because of the landlord) Santa left him a note explaining that when we got a house that allowed dogs he would remember his request and make a special trip if needed. So any ideas welcomed.

I don't want to wait till christmas morning cause she is getting so big so fast. Kinda wanted him to we the mom and litter mates but wanted it to come from Santa. Do I do the traditional have her in the house when we come home/wake up to make it feel like Santa magically dropped her off.. Thought of maybe a letter staring where to go to get a present. Scavenger hunt that leads t the breeder. Looking for any suggestions.

Very sweet.. only thing better than playing with a doggie is seeing that priceless expression and happiness from a child!

My first thought was to have her run into his room in the morning to wake him up... you'd have to try to keep her quiet all night though. That would be a fun morning and you could still say that Santa dropped her off early because he didn't want her to have to ride in his sleigh all night or something...

Well, in your post, you did say that Santa left a note saying he would make a special trip if needed. Maybe he could leave a note saying that he saw the pup and just knew the right person to give her to - your son. He had to drop her off early tho to make sure she did not fall out of the sleigh (because it is sooo full of gifts).

Hope your son enjoys the puppy. I'm sure he will have an excellent christmas

so my thought: are you home when he gets home from school? If so I would have a box with holes of course gift wrapped and sitting on your porch with his name on it and a note from santa telling him he dropped by to deliver the present he promised him and sorry it has taken so long but he could not find the right puppy until now. Or something like that.

I can't wait to hear how you delivered his wonderful new present.

Seems as if you want him to make the trip with you to pick up the pup from the breeder?
If so....easy fix.
Mail HIM a letter from SANTA......ASAP.
In it have Santa give him instructions about how to go about getting the puppy picked up. Of course all of this is after you have made arrangements.
Dear "name"
As promised, I have picked out the perfect puppy for you. Due to the weather on Christmas Eve when I deliver presents in my sleigh....I have chosen to leave the puppy with an Elf and dear friend of mine which I wanted you to meet. She/he has been caring for the puppies mother and litter mates until they were ready to go to their forever homes. You will be responsible for this new puppy for a long time. I know you will do everything in your power to help your mom raise this puppy so that it will grow up to be the best Boxer adult ever! You need to help feed the puppy and clean up after it when it has an accident. Please also keep your toys, shoes and clothes picked up so the puppy doesn't think they are her toys. She will depend on you to teach her things like what toys are for her and what things she should leave alone. She will grow up very fast and get bigger but for a while she won't know everything that she is supposed to know. It is up to YOU to make her feel comfortable in your home and to show her the ropes. I am leaving her in your trusted hands. I know you won't let me down!

SANTA

OR something similar of course!!!

How sweet! I love it, and that you've spent so long preparing for this (and aren't just doing it as a Christmas surprise) is fantastic. I love all the ideas. Please tell us the story!! And pictures...we definitely need pictures!

I think that any of these ideas will give your son a special day to remember forever.

I love the idea that you have been responsible enough to research the breed and wait until better circumstances allowed a pup but please be sure that now is the right time. Situations change and sometimes plans don't work out so please remember that this is a lifetime commitment to this puppy. Sorry to bring the thread down but I have seen way too many animals end up homeless from similar circumstances.

If the above does not apply to you and I don't think it does as you have waited, please ignore, I just felt like I had to get that out there.

Good luck with her and helping your son to be a responsible dog owner.

I agree with the letter, with him getting to see the litter mates, plus the ride to the breeders will be priceless in itself he will be so excited. Good luck!
