Of course I am extremely careful & never leave the dogs alone with the baby but I haven’t had any problems and I have three of the most hyper active boxers on earth. One of my males, Rosco, is CRAZY about his toys and overall just seems a little nutty. In addition Rosco was never around kids before we had our son (Rosco was three when my son was born). I can tell you he has been the best one with my 1yr old. Rosco will accidentally take my hand off to get to a ball or a toy that I am holding but if my son hands him a toy Rosco is unbelievably gentle. Like another poster mentioned there has been a couple of times when my son has gotten knocked over by one of the dogs but beyond that we have not had any problems.

I never excluded the dogs from being around the baby. From the day we brought our son home our dogs have been near him. As long as you supervise all interactions & remind the dogs when they are being too rough they will catch on fast.

WE got our Boxer boy 4 weeks before I gave birth to our son, and then we got out Boxer girl when our son was around 4 years old. I had 3 cats and an 82 pound Boxer when my baby was born, then when he was 4 I had 3 cats a 65 pound Boxer and still had our 82 pound Boxer, all did just fine with my son. Obviously you supervise them. If you know your dog is too rambunctious outside and won't listen to you (I would advise training prior to baby) then don't take the dog and the baby outside together until baby is older. You make changes, but yes, millions of families have dogs and babies and do just fine.

I have 4 children and a daycare and our dogs are great with the kids. We have a 4 month old boxer, 10 week old cavalier, 1 yr old cavalier and a 7 yr old lab. We do have to put our lab in a run during the day because he will knock someone over but other than that they are all great...

good or bad, you'll never know unless you try! i agree with everyone that you have to be extra vigilant with the dogs around the baby, but we got jasper when our son was about 18 months old and i can honestly say the worst thing that has happened is jasper inaverdently knocks diego over when he gets too excited... other than that they are the best of friends. wouldn't have it any other way... heck, that is why we even got a boxer! not only were told how wonderful they are with kids... but shown with our friends..
