Chief was 1 year old when I brought my Aidan home from the hospital. I was very worried because Chief loves to jump on me when I get home from work. I was worried he would jump on me and hurt the baby, or jump on the baby.
The most amazing thing happened when we got home. I walked in carrying the baby, and Chief just came up to me and stood at my feet staring at me. He just knew that he couldn't jump on me when I was holding the baby! There hadn't been a day that I came home that he did not jump up to give me a big hug, and there he was just as calm as he could be...and I never had to say a word.
For about the first month, he would NOT walk away from Aidan's crib. When I laid Aidan down for a nap, Chief would hang his head over the side of the crib and watch the baby. and if he wasn't doing that, he was napping right next to the crib.
When Aidan got older and started crawling and using his hands, he found Chiefs big face. Chief will just lay there and let Aidan stick his hand in his mouth, play with his teeth, squeeze his big cheeks, crawl on his back, etc. He has never been rough or mean to the baby...he is quite wonderful.
