Question Fur Babies & New Human Babies

Hi everyone :

I have a question regarding new human babies with fur-babies. How does this go over? Do you have any suggestions? I'm not due until February, but I want to aget my fur-baby prepared so the transition isn't rough for anyone.

First off - licking? Montgomery is a chronic licker ! He licks and licks and licks and I'm nervous that he could lick the baby's face and suffocate him/her. He can nearly do that to me with that big, fat wet tongue that I'm sure he could do that to a little one. How do we get him to stop licking?

Will he eventually learn to leave the baby alone? The last thing on Earth I want is to have Montgomery have to be outside when the baby is awake and on the floor - how do I handle this?

Thanks for any input/advice you may have. Montgomery is my sole baby now and I want this to be as easy for him as possible.

April

hello

cool oregonian,

I just got my boxer puppy when my son was to weeks old, I got daisy girl on mothers day and she needed a lot of pampering since she was the runt and left the nest early. Getting up all the time was hard but I am glad they get along she is gently to the baby. My son is three months now and has been sleeping though the night but i still get up to let daisy out (funny) cograts and good luck!

First off, Congrats!!

We got Loke when she was 2 months and my daughter was 5 months, they are now both 3. I just had another baby in October and I never worried about the dogs and babies, I worried of course with my first baby and Corgan since he had been our only child for over a year. But he is laid back. Loke doesn't try to lick the baby too much, now of course with the baby on the floor crawling and getting into everything, loke will occasionally lick her, but not too bad. All I can say is just keep an eye on them both. Don't over react if he does lick the baby. I can't see him doing it enough to hurt the baby. Of course as always, don't leave them together unattended! They'll get along great.
