Amber eyes

My 18 month old boxer Ruger has light amber eyes. Going by the AKC standards they can only be dark brown?

Yes, dark eyes are desired. The standard reads "Eyes--Dark brown in color," and "Eyes noticeably lighter than ground color of coat" is listed as a fault.
