I came across an article in a different pet forum and I mentioned it in someone elses thread. Another member pointed out that it is worthy of it's own thread. I didn't think so but now I have some questions about it.
Banfield pet hospitals ban tail docking, ear cropping on dogs - USATODAY.com
It surprises me that they would take such a stance seeing as though the AKC has numerous breeds that have these procedures as a requirement. And it makes them money.
Does anyone use these vets? Did they warn you ahead of time that this policy was being considered?
People that do show conformations, or even people that just prefer the look of cropped ears, do you think this will make it more difficult for you to get the procedures done?
I know my vet doesn't do ear cropping because she does not have experience in it and people aren't as quick to get it. She does do tail docking. But if younger vets aren't getting enough experience while they have a mentor, who will be left to trust with such a procedure?
