Cute picture, with the pumpkin behind, anyway

Hi again! Are you still in contact with the breeder, if so maybe you could ask as you are obviously curious? I understand it must be frustrating thinking you have bought one thing and got another but as gmacleod said your love for your dog is the most important thing. If it helps my dog is a similar age to yours so I will post a pic so you can see a difference - he is fawn with a black mask.

Yes the breeder is not a plesant person, well she was until i questioned her about him being purebred. She refuses to admit it!

Well, yes - I think he looks like a mix as a puppy. Same for the pup on the far right. The middle one is less clear (though as above, his markings do help to obscure). Seen alone, that one might have slipped under the radar

I would not agree that means you deserved to be deceived, however

I do hope you won't let any of that affect how you feel about your pup though (the breeder may another matter...). Whether purebred or mixed, he is a very handsome dog

Hey, if he IS a mix, maybe he's lucky and has escaped the cancer and heart condition genes so prevelant in the Boxer breed.

On a side note, I've heard it said that the head is the first thing to go when people indescriminantly breed Boxers with poor conformation. It's entirely possible that the breeder bred two dogs that were poor examples of the breed. You wouldn't believe how many long-ish muzzled boxers I've seen locally. There must be a BYB pumping out long-faced dogs somewhere near me. I'm sure they are registered dogs, but I can only imagine what the breeding stock looks like. Purebred doesn't necessarily mean well-bred.

Really? The funny thing is that its 50/50 when i ask people about his breed, some people say mix some peole say boxer, his head is the ONLY thing that seperates him from being a "boxer" he has all other qualities, attributes, etc. He has the massive underbite and also the lady i bought him from said "His mom is a long nosed boxer, I think that its ugly when they turn out like that, but i swear to it hes a boxer!" Shes said this to me in regards to me asking her about his long nose, she swears hes a boxer until shes blue in the face. I had the opportunity to see dog at home with parents, but it was soooo far away we chose to meet her half way which was stupid i know. I would like to see a "long nosed boxer" its hard to show people pics of my dog b/c sometimes he looks totally different in pictures. But you are the FIRST person to talk to me about "long nosed boxers" so please tell me more.

About 50% of dogs on this site have (incorrectly) long noses Well, that may be a slight exaggeration. But you don't have to spend much time browsing the gallery to find many examples.

It is not an alternative type of boxer - but rather just the products of poor breeding (BYBs, mills, etc).

My first Boxer, a rescue, was a longer nosed Boxer. It was very evident that he was a purebred one, he just had a longer snout and given he was a rescue and ended up with many genetic conditions in the end, probably safe to say a poorly bred one. But we loved him regardless and he was the perfect dog, protector, family pet, adored my son, etc.
