Oh Noooo!!!
Ok well I haven't seen any posts on here about this, I don't know if it's the one thing they don't talk about or what but here it goes. Today me, my GF and Brutus were at my GF's mom's house watching Brutus play with her shih-tzu Remi. Well Remi doesn't take kindly to Brutus very much. Remi sat there the whole time in front of his momma not letting Brutus near and snapping at him. Well Brutus kept messing with him for a while then he came over by me and my GF and I look down at him and what do i see, I see "The Pink Thing" hanging out. :O Well my GF didn't like that at all. She started freaking out. I'm just like he's too young for this kind of stuff he's still a pup. Then to top things off we get home later and he stands up on my arm like he always does then he started to hump me. By this time I'm like what is going on here. Either he is growing up too fast or my GF's female shih-tzu Mia got Brutus excited. All i could say is EWWWW!!!!

Is she fixed? If not, she may have. Buddy started to get where he was trying to start that and we got him neutered. I know it's a natural thing for them but not on my arm or leg! I had a shih-tzu and he didn't care if it was a pillow. He was awful about it. Stop laughing. It was really embarrassing when company came over cause he only did it to guys. That's ewwww!

Yea Mia is spayed. It's pretty uncomfortable to know your dog is trying to hump your arm or leg. He also humps this big CareBear we won from the amusement park. I think he'll be getting neutered right at six months if this keeps up.

I had Buddy done right at 5 months. My vet is the one who chose the date for us. If you're not a breeder and aren't showing him, it's better that you do. There are a lot of health issues that could come up later and you'd wish you did. And after a while, they mellow out a little. Buddy doesn't try to hump anymore and I didn't have any problems with him messing with his stitches since his vet put them inside. He could lick at it while it was healing but couldn't reach the stitches.

Hmm, the stitches are something to think about. I almost forgot about those. Brutus licks down there about every time he goes potty. That may be a problem for him. Ok, I have a question. This is my first dog ever, what exactly do they do when they neuter a dog??

The vet knocks him out. They cut a small slit and remove his testicles. Stitch him back up and send him home. I think there are more detailed threads on this in here if you do a search. A moderator can explain this in detail but I gave the quick version. There is an anesthesia that boxers can't take and it's called ACE. Make sure to ask the vet to use something else. That's in here also.

Oh ok, thank you. Yea I hear about the Ace thing all the time. Believe that is embedded into my mind. So after the testicles are out, no more pink thing??? Geez i hope so.

Weeeellllll, actually no, the pink thing will probably make an appearance anytime he is excited, but not like it does on an un neutered male.
It peeks out when they are excited about food and stuff like that, but they wont get all horn dog on you like an intact male would, but remember dogs also hump for dominence, like one of the posts said their dog only did it to males, that indicates the dog was trying to establish dominence.
But I do promise you that your dog will be better when he gets neutered, but just be aware that their hormone level doesn't drop for 6 months after they get "snipped" that is how long the hormones stay in the system.

I haven't ever seen the pink thing so I guess my pup just doesn't get overly excited these days. Good for me! Thanks for the input.

Thank you Louie's mom, that was pretty informative. So he can still be a lil horn dog for 6 months after the operation. That's good to know so i don't go running back to the vet telling him he missed.
