Donna, I'm soooo excited for you!! I truly am! Don't worry about feeling crazy, or pestering the breeder!! I have a funny story for you....

When my husband and I (now ex-husband) decided to get a dog, we did research and chose a boxer. We talked to a vet who had a client that was having puppies and he gave us their number. (I guess you could say it was a BYB, but really these people had a male and a female and had no intentions of being breeders, but accidents happen... I know better now, and they only had the one litter.) But anyway (that's not the point), we called them up, went over the meet the dogs and decided to buy one of the puppies (which she hadn't had yet). We went over twice before she had them, and put in endless calls of "anything yet?" and "anything yet?". We must have pestered the crap out of those poor people!! When she went into labor, the mom called VERY EXCITED and said "IT'S HAPPENING NOW!!!" Of course we wanted to rush over, but out of respect for the mommy dog, we waited anxiously until they were two days old. That's when I first met my DEXTER!!! They said we could have pick of the litter, since we were so excited and fired up about having a puppy, and I picked Dexter out at two days old (he still had his tail and dew claws)!! I'll never forget that day! We went over many times to visit the pups and the parents, and made MANY phone calls to check on them.... Dexter opened his eyes for the first time to look at ME!!

Soooo, the point is, don't feel bad about being an excited mommy!! They understand!! And like most of us here, I could never have let any of those pups go!! I'd want to keep them all too!

I am soooo EXCITED FOR YOU!!! I wish you lived closer to the breeder, so you could have that same experience! But your pup is on the way!! Keep us posted!!!!!!

Six hours?!?!?! That's way out of range for a pop in, isn't it? I still think I would go at least once, maybe at four weeks, just to see!

The suspense is killing me and it's not even my dog. I didn't notice if you had any names you were thinking about yet? I know it's way too premature, just curious.

After researching many many many breeders (found a few closer but NONE were having any litters anytime soon..and I wanted one for the Spring) I found the one I am using. Believe me, I WISH I were closer. But I may drive up at 4 wks to see the pups.

No word yet from the breeder, I haven't emailed her. Premature for names?? I have had a list of names since before Halloween! A few wks before I contacted the breeder and way before the pups were conceived. I have a few, but may have to put them in a hat and draw the one for the pup..I cannot decide. You can do a search under the names forum..I posted one or two posts there.

AHHHH!!!! I am going crazy waiting.

That is exciting and we are so happy for you. I too would like to have another boxer but I think Max is too young to bring another one into the family. I can't wait to hear all about your new baby.

Donna, well I think that dogs have the same gestation period as cats. When my mom used to breed persian cats they never came on the date they thought. Always 2 or 3 days later.

Good things are worth waiting for. I've got a little less than two weeks before we pick up our baby and I'm counting the hours. (there's a pic in my gallery of her)
