Boxer goes absolutly crazy for.... tuna fish?

I have never seen him want someting so bad as the other night when i made a tuna sandwich for myself. I'm not a big tuna eater myself, and it is prob the first tuna sandwich i've made since i got Knuckles ~8months ago. But when i opened the tuna can he went crazy, like 100% bonkers crazy. Whining for the tuna, jumping like crazy to get to it. he was even trying to jump into the sink that i drained the tuna in! i had to fill the sink with soapy water to mask the smell then throw out the cans, wash all the dishes AND the can opener (he was trying to lick it!), and throw out the trash befor he started to settle down and then he kept smelling my hands.

I didn't give him any since i don't know how well dogs would be able to handle tuna, but my lord he was going more crazy for tuna than he does when i get the peanutbutter out! do all boxers(or dogs for that matter) go completely crazy for tuna or is Knuckles just a fish lover?

And is tuna someting OK to give a dog or no?

Tuna is something you could give him, but only very occassionally. It has too much mercury and iodine for dogs really. BUT: other sorts of oily fish, such as canned sardines, mackeral or pilchards are excellent. He'd love those too, I'm sure And they're very good for him to have (not daily, of course, but once a week or so is fine).

Is he part cat? Roxy goes nuts over chicken! Boiled chicken, canned chicken! If I leave it on the counter to cool, she'll just sit there and whine for it!
Enjoyed your story I can picture it!

Opening a can of fish in this house will bring all 3 running, regardless of where they are.
The cat will take chunks out of my hand to get to it. That is why the cat is the boss in this house. The dogs know to be afraid, be very afraid...

My vet had told me tuna was not good for dogs.
So, now, if I have tuna, I make sure I have a can of sardines or mackrel for my babies. Their breath stinks for days, but it is worth it to see them scarf them down.

Macon goes nuts when I'm making something with Tuna too. She eats Fish & Sweet Potato food, but I've never given her tuna before!

Xena's almost 10 and she's had tuna since being a pup! Mind you, not often and not alot. I will drain the tuna oil over her kibble..she LOVES that! Spirit is now a tuna nut too! As is with humans, tuna is to be eaten moderately because of the high mercury levels. Mine also love sardines..I can't stand the smell of them, but they get them once a month. I also buy a huge jug of fish oil for them that I use on their kibble, about 2-3 days/week. They love it and the oil makes for a beautiful coat!
Funny, I can open any can in my cupboard, BUT, if it's a tuna can, they can smell it from outside and it's not long before they are at my feet with a river of drool at their feet!

Stella goes nuts over tuna too! She sits and stares at the kids when they have tuna sandwiches...the kids say she looks like a vulture so she is "vulching" lol. I buy sardines for her. Maybe the kids should "vulch" at her when she is eating them so she knows how they feel lol.

I gave AJ tuna for the first time this morning. I always mix something in his food and that's all I had - he LOVED it! My cat got really mad though - I had to half the can!
