3rd dog? Border Collie..VERY LONG
Hello folks
Well my sister has a border collie named Cameron that she would like me to take. Although she provides him with medical care and takes good physical care of him, she just isn't very attached to him. More background 3 years ago she had to put down her Australian Cattledog named Hermione due to a brain disorder that caused her to have seizures constantly, with all medical avenues exhausted she had to let her go. Well she never did get over it, before getting Oscar the boxer I was considering getting a cattledog but she started to cry and she didn't think she would ever be ready to be around another dog that reminded her of Hermi. She now feels that she may never be able to love another dog like she loved Hermi, which she feels is not fair to Cameron. She will never give him to a shelter, she will continue to go through the motions of caring for him but she feels he deserves better. She originally got him from someone that spent lots of money to buy him to breed him but didn't have time to care fom him and neglected him by locking him in a kennel constantly. It was horrible he was very overweight and he was in the kennel in his own feces and urine, to the point that groomers could not get the stains out of his fur after several tries. My sister just couldn't leave him there, so bought him. She has all his papers and it looks like the breeder that sold him to the owner my sister bought him from was a reputable breeder and I am sure would be heartbroken to know that one of her babies ended up in those conditions. I'm babbling. He is extremely aggressive with human males he actually puts his mouth on their ankles but he hasn't bit anyone yet. He has some pretty bad social issues. I am not sure that I can take on a dog like that. My BF is convinced that with enough love, attention ,and treats that he can turn him around. I think he imagines he will fall in love with him and they will play catch and frizbee every day. And I just don't know how he will fit into our family, Oscar is the Mommas boy and follows me everywhere and Lilly is a Daddys girl and follows my BF everywhere. So neither is ever at a loss for attention. I plan on buying a house in the next 6 months so there will be room. I am just not sure. Also he gets along with Oscar and Lilly well. Besides from Hermi he is the smartest dog I have ever met, and so eager to please. He is a pretty special dog that just has so many special needs. Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks
