Nala 3, Chipmunks 1
Saturday afternoon Nala brought live chipmunk #4 into the house. We tried to catch it Saturday night but no such luck. Sunday morning it was running around the living room. Nala and Jack (cat) were obsessed, Wayne (overnight doggie guest) couldn't care less. But finally a happy ending - early afternoon mom and I were actually able to corner him in the dining room and then he made a mad dash out the sliding glass door and ran straight up the nearest big tree. Nala tore out after him and I swear, if Boxers could only climb trees! She was jumping at the tree and running around it on her hind legs. Then she and Wayne commenced to peeing all over the tree just to make sure that chipmunk knew whose tree it was.
Score - Nala 3, Chipmunks 1

OMG, you have no idea the variety of gifts I receive. Nala is also fond of catching squirrels. Usually she is kind enough to leave the dead gifts outside though. We have one cat who likes to catch bugs. One Saturday morning I was sound asleep but heard this odd buzzing sound. I open my eyes and there is Abbey (cat) sitting beside my pillow with a huge live dragonfly in her mouth. I took it away from her and the stupid dragonfly bit me so hard it almost drew blood! She brought me a live secada too. She brought me a big slug once. Ewww!
And just last week Tigger (cat) brought me a baby albino king snake. Beautiful little snake. Luckily it was unharmed and I was able to set it free.

Bella has been trying to catch squirrels, but she's still not (yet) fast enough. Thank God. If she brought in a squirrel, alive or dead, I think we would have problems. Nala's catch is too funny

I guess I have myself to blame for Nala's quick reflexes. About a year ago I bought a laser pointer for her and I think it has really helped her with speed and concentration. She didn't used to be able to catch critters in the yard but since she's been "training" with that darn laser pointer, she can catch anything she sets her sites on.

Oh great. Is this what we have to look foward to? We have been playing with a laser pointer also. I hope that the critters are faster than Zeke!
