My little tribute to Sammy and all boxers
Well, I have written and rewritten this many times. The best way to start, is to state that boxers positively affect our lives in so many unexpected ways. Sometimes it is their look of affection that melts your heart, the playful way that they toss a toy in the air, or the way that they change your lives.
We left Friday morning to bring Sammy to his new home in Tuscon AZ. We spoke many times to Vicki and Bill over the phone and email and knew it was the place to take him. He was angelic on the ride and it was very hard for us to not turn around and keep him. The Geisman's are a very special family and 8.5 hours later we made it to their home. Sammy and their new rescue baby, Jazmine Colbee, had a rocky first meeting. I think we skin folks should have planned better but, after the guys took them for a walk, they became instant best friends. Long story short, these two lil rescue boxers (both from Los Angeles) have found there forever home with a great family in Arizona. They are the happiest boxer pair, loving their new home, the puppy spa pool, the mud puddle that they roll in before the puppy pool, their stay at home mommy, their new doggie door and just being together.
I know that there will be stories galore about their antics. I wanted to say that without my first boxer, Junior, I would have never have been blessed with Boxerworld. I would have never met the fantastic people from around the world that I have been fortunate to benefit from their friendship, compassion and wisdom. I would never have had the experience of taking in a rescue boxer. Watching him heal, grow, develop ... the joys of cleaning my carpets everyday (LOL) and the incredible experience that came from having two different personalities that gave such unconditional love. I would have never had a source of support to help me through the pain of giving up Sammy because Junior just did not want another dog in the house. I would never have met Vicki and Bill. Jack and I would never have driven to AZ (575 miles each way!hahaha) at this time in our business but honestly, we needed the time to be together, get away and reaccess other issues in our life. We never would have been able to express our grief emotions and talk like we did under the desert moon like we did last night. We never would have met a family like Vicki's, who have been incredible through a child's illness and have the most fantastic outlook on the world. We have been truly moved through this whole experience. I am sure that everyone has uplifting stories of how their boxer babe has touched their lives. I just had to share mine and say thank you to God, for creating boxer dogs.
