Lucy finally did it, months of stalking and chasing finally paid off. She caught her first squirrel. My husband looked out into our back yard and there she was playing with it in her mouth. We went outside to get her to drop it as it was still alive and screaming like you would not believe. Of course being the well minded Boxer that she is, she just took off across the yard. She was oh so proud of her catch.

We were chasing her around the yard (which made it more fun for her) throwing shoes and toys at her trying to get her to let it go. Of course, I was also barefoot and was delighted to step in many piles of "well you know what." Lucy kept tossing it around and then she would drop it. The squirrel of course was too stunned to do anything so she would pick it up again and take off. This scenario went on for a good five minutes. Our neighbors came outside after they heard us yelling. Lucy finally dropped the squirrel when called to the fence by the neighbors. We caught her and inspected her for bites, etc. -which there were none. This whole time the squirrel hasn't moved. I am thinking great I have a dead squirrel in my yard or worse a half-dead one that needs to be put out of its misery. Well after about three minutes the squirrel got up and very slowly and gingerly found its way out of the fence. Needless to say, we haven't seen any squirrels around our yard lately. Anyone need Lucy to eradicate your yard too!
By the way - during this whole thing, Lexus had ran inside and hid in her kennel. She is such a baby!
