First Time to the Drive Thru
As some of you may remember from a previous post of mine, I've been trying to take Ginger on as many car rides as possible before I take her on the big 8 hr. trip in July. Today she rode with me & the kids to McDonalds. This was her first time to a drive thru. She did really good except for a few things. I normally tie her to the seat so she can't get on me. Since it was a quick trip down the rode I didn't, little mistake. She started getting ansty sitting in the drive thru and while moving around alot she managed to put the car in nutral while I was paying for the food. I didn't even realize it til I went to go forward. I was thinking, "What the heck is wrong with the car its brand freaking new?" LOL! Then I realized. The first window, the man sees her (how could he not with her practically on my lap barking at him) & says "Wow! Now thats a hungry dog!" then the second window the one girl had to get the other co-workers to show them Ginger. They were just in Aww at how cute she was. I don't even know if they new what breed she was, lol! They were so caught up in visitng with Ginger they almost gave me the wrong order. I just wanted to share our first trip to the drive thru.

Titan loves going thru the drive-thrus. He's a McD's fan himself, and at our Subway's they have doggie treats at the window.

That's cute-Ginger was a hit at McDonalds! I think that small, fun trips are the easiest way to get a pup "car friendly". They quickly associate the car with happy times! And what's happier than a burger and lovins from the golden arches?!

Too Cute...
I remember Koda's first drive thru...oh my gosh. He didn't like the speaker at all. He barked and growled at it, he didn't know what to think at all. Then we get to the window and actually sees someone and of course was just all excited. Especially when mom gave him his hamburger...LOL

It's so nice to see there a quite a few people who take their dogs to drive thrus. I did not know how common this really is. You would think most ppl wouldn't want a dog near their food. I enjoy reading about all your experiences!
boxerchick12~ The KFC close to me sucks. I used to love going to KFC when I lived near a better one. The one close to me is ALWAYS out of stuff!! Such a pain! I don't think they would ever give away free food to dogs either.(they don't have it to give away, LOL! ) You are very lucky to have such a great KFC near you! I may take her there one day just to see if they do give out free chicken to dogs like yours does.

We recently took our dogs through the drivethru at the Bank. I don't think the teller saw the dogs until my Scottie barked. When he acknowledeged her she barked again so he would see Bennington. He sent us out a couple of large milk bones. Good thing Bennington has a Scottie to do the talking for him (he never barks) or he might not have gotten one

Fortunately, we don't go through fast-food drive-thrus much (DH has cholesterol probs ), but we do go through the bank drive-thrus quite often and Boomer now knows what bank means. They've even got to know use well enough that if I happen to stop by there on my way home from work, and don't have Boomer with me, they send him a couple of treats anyway. And when I get home I can say "I went to the bank" and he comes running, sits, and starts the slobberin'! It's too funny!

We take the kids through drive-thru's all of the time. A lot of the time, they get free food. The other day, the guy at Wendy's gave them a piece of grilled chicken each. Brutus gets really disappointed if they don't pay attention to him though. I can tell it in his little sad eyes and he always gets part of my food when he looks that way. Who am I kidding???? he always gets a bite of mommy's food anyway.
