Rainy day blues for Chloe
Does your boxer like the rain? Mud?
I have one weird little boxer girl! (8 months old) Chloe loves a good muddy yard to roll in and play in. She loves nothing better than to dig in a nice muddy area of our yard. (which is allowed because it's HER area of the yard)
BUT, if it's raining, she will refuse to go outside to potty until it stops raining! No amount of coaxing will help either.
Today, it rained at our house all day long. It was a good drizzle that lasted all day. Chloe went to the potty first thing this morning and wouldn't go again until it stopped raining. She held it until 10:00PM!! I tried everything to get her to go potty and she would have NONE of it! I dragged her outside numerous times and she would not go. When my husband got off work, he tried 3 times to get her to go and she would not dare. LOL!
How do your boxers react? Any secrets on coaxing them to go potty anyway?
***I did do a search on this subject using keywords of rain, rain and bathroom, and couldn't find anything on a dog holding it that long over rain.**

Yup! I have a female that holds it too!
My oldest boxer, a female, will hold it as long as she can due to the weather outside. She'll tolerate the cold, but to a certain degree, and hurry in like a bat out of hell once she's done with her business. She's just a dainty little thing, or so she thinks of herself like that LOL
If it's really bad, she'll pee right outside the door on the concrete. I let it go because it will wash off with the rain/snow and i'd rather have that than the house.
If it's raining super hard though, none of them want to go and they'll hold it.
They're just so cute, not wanting to get wet LOL I think it's pretty normal for them anyway. I think that if they really have to go though, they will...

My girl could care less if it is raining outside. She loves all sorts of weather. If I need her outside for any reason and her attention is elsewhere all I have to do is say "squirrel" and she's off! She loves treeing squirrel's. I feel bad sometimes after she gets outside and finds nothing to chase. She just turns around and looks at me as if to say, "You are crazy mom, there are NO squirrels out here!"
I suppose that you could train her with a similar buzz word...if their attention is on whatever is going on outside they may not notice the rain but realize they have "business" to tend to!

Sidda doesn't care if it is raining or not. She will still go out and take her time if she pleases. Now Henry is a different story. He will come to the door with us to go out and as soon as the door opens and he sees it is raining the brakes go on. You cannot coax him out the door and if you make him go out he stands crouched down like he is frozen waiting for you to let him go back in. After he has held it awhile though he usually will go out, hurry with his business, and dash back in.

You'd think the world was going to end when Mega has to go outside in the rain. Even a little sprinkle - he is just not having it! Tries to daintily step around puddles and shake every 3 seconds to get the blasted water off. He gives me these awful looks like "Mommy you are so MEAN to me"!!!!

Haven't had too much rain yet
But Luka hates the cold- I know, I know, I live in California! But we're near the Sierra and the mornings have been 25-30 degrees. He runs outside, uses the bathroom, runs to the dumster so I can throw it away and then runs back to the apt! It is so funny to see his short little legs going so fast!
