upset
Ok last weekend I had Kayla outside and the neibghors friends said that Kayla is a pretty dog.Of course I said thank you.Than he said to bad she is a miniture boxer.I was like OMG.I said there is no such thing. Some boxers look smaller because of bad breeders.I told him Kayla was on the small side because she was only 5 pounds when we got her.
He told me I don't know what I am saying and walked away.I really hate it when people tell me I don't know about the breed my dog is.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. There's always someone who thinks they know more than you. It doesn't happen so much anymore, but when Legend was a puppy and we had him out at the park or whatever, there's always some joker who wants to spew facts (usually inaccurate ones) about Boxers. Its all I can do to bite my lip instead of saying "Yeah? Well we RESEARCHED the breed for over a YEAR before getting one...but I'm sure you know more than me!". Hang in there, there are idiots everywhere.

I have learned to ignore those types of comments. We are very proud of our animals, regardless of their size/weight, etc... .
My Delilah was bought from someone that I should not have bought her from, she only weighs 35 pounds at 20 months old. Someone once told me that she is a miniature boxer. I tried to explain to them the situation and then I decided it was not worth my effort. There will always be someone that feels that they know more than we do, of course, we have to keep our ears open because they might. Delilah's parents, by the way, were 85 and 60 pounds, so sometimes nomatter how large the parents are, the puppy can be born small.
Hang in there because you will hear comments over and over again. Samson, for example, is a beautiful boxer. He is a little on the thin side. I have had comments made that he doesn't eat enough, or that he is "wormy." Verterinary care, and all other care, comes before care of myself, SO, I know he is well taken care of.
Just ignore these people...it shows that we have integrity, and perhaps they don't?

It is not just our fur babies that i get comments on. My katie girl is a heafty 80lbs at 4 yrs and looks to have some mastiff in her. And up until this year she was all legs and skinny like a lanky teenager. Well, my poor skin kid James is only 13 yrs old, stands in at 5'8"-5'9" tall, is wearing a size 32X32 in jeans (or was at x-mas, ) and wears a size 13 in shoes! now, i am only 5'7" and quite statuesque (polite way of saying overweight! ) and his father is a tiny 5'8" and has worn a size 32X30 in jeans since he was 13. I get the same kind of comments about my poor James, have even been told that i should not have fed him so much miracle grow when he was a baby. Sometimes, you just gotta laugh everyone off and just move on. Although, i swear there is an epidemic of idiocy here in the U.S.

I have to laugh because it happens to me all the time!! Everyone thinks Sasha is a pit bull....and i tell them she's not and just like this morning.....a guy asks what kinds of dogs i have and I reply....'boxers' and he says to me..'there's no such thing as a white boxer!" I use to try to explain and in some cases even argue with them! This morning I just shook my head and laughed and said 'You would be surprised if you do some research!" and just walked back in to my house!! I figured that was subtle sarcasm.....
My princess is also a skinny gal..tall and long...but only 54 pounds for now!! Our vet says not to have her gain too much more because it will be harder on her joints and bones later!

My girl Tae is 40 lbs at 20 mos (19" tall) and probably full-grown. I have yet to get comments other than "she's so cute," but it appears I should prepare myself!

Stupid is as stupid does!
Seriously, next time tell him to look up the boxer breed description...overly small or large boxers are not "the standard". Boxers are a medium breed dog!
I personally think your Kayla looks adorable!
