Exclamation An 'Inevitable' fright

So me and Maddy are out the house at around 7/8 like we have been since last Wednesday when my boyfriend left for his holidays. We always go to the woods in the morning and have a nice longish walk and for a few days we've walked along the canal and back through the woods. Alongside the Canal there is long grass covering the edge and Maddy loves running through long grass and each time I've said be careful the water is there and I refuse to jump in after you, knowing full well I would in a heart beat. Today she is doing her usual thing of running through it so i look at something for a second and Splooooooosh!!!! Bear in mind this is a dog who so far we can't even encourage to paddle not even when there was another dog playing in it as well! So I'm not sure she can swim, I know dogs struggle and hey presto they swim but in some cases this just doesnt work. So Im on my hands and knees looking over I cant hear anything so Im just about take my shoes and socks off when I see her paddling away along the edge desperately trying to find a place to scramble out. I run ahead to cut her off so I can try and lift her out So I again get down on my hands and knees and grab her collar as she goes past and lift her just enough so I can get a grasp behind her front legs to lift her enough to do the rest herself, needless to say I'm not crying my eyes out because I managed to lift her out = resulting in very soggy doggy and very soggy mummy from where she was kissing and cuddling me afterwards!!

Maddy can swim, I think I would have been terrified. Maybe this could become a habit glad all turned out okay!

Red face

Me too I was panicking I'd have to jump in Im not fond of water myself especially not diving down to get her. Just lucky that she had the co-ordination to be able to swim or it could have turned out much much worse.
