We have had a rough couple of days. LC got out of the yard on Thursday night and was hit by a truck!

She ran to a neighbors porch, and was sitting in a pool of blood. Steve called John, our local animal control officer and friend who also knew LC. We rushed her to Knox County Vet (our local vet does not have after hours) where he was to meet us. I held her the whole trip and swore we were going to lose her. She had lost alot of blood and her breathing was getting labored. I kept talking to her, especially when she would shut her eyes. We waited in the parking lot for what seemed like forever for the Dr. (he had a twenty minute drive) with LC wrapped in my coat and her legs wrapped in blankets, because that is where we saw most of the blood coming from. We carried her in and she was hooked up to an IV right away. Her front legs took the most damage, as she has hardly any skin on the back of her right leg. Her left leg has skin and meat missing on the back also. After awhile we could tell that she was responding to the IV and the shots that he had given her. We really knew she was coming around when she would look up at the Dr. and John like "Whatcha doin'?"
After she was stabilized, the Dr. explained to us that we had to wait at least 24 hours to see what internal injuries she may have. We were able to go visit her Friday morning and yesterday morning and she is slowly improving. Friday they did go ahead and get all of her cuts stitched up- which is a good sign she will survive.

They tell us we are not our of the woods yet, but she is doing better. They are still wanting to make sure she will be okay internally, and said it would be at least Monday before we could bring her home, that is as long as she has improved more. THey aren't sure of the extent of damage to the skin tissue on her legs-she may need skin grafts. Whatever we have to do to make her better, we will!!
As for here at home, everyone misses her, especially her buddy Reno. He has searched the house and yard looking for her. We finally got him to eat yesterday by putting some oatmeal on his food.
Please keep us in your prayers!!
