Now I'm mad
I still have the dog I am dog sitting and he was supposed to pick her up today. He didn't say I'll be there Saturday to get her but I assumed if he ask me to watch her for a week and he dropped her off last Saturday he would be here this saturday to get her. He has not answered any of my messages and I keep saying maybe he had to work but to me that is no excuse. He only called the day after he dropped her off to check on her and this whole experience has been very frustrating. She ran out of food yesterday so I had to feed her my dogs food today. She ruined one of my dogs beds because he didn't say she doesn't like to be left alone so I have only left my house 2hrs since I got her. He didn't say don't try to play tug with her because she will try and take your hand off, we found that out on our own. When he was about to leave I ask if there was anything I needed to know about her besides what I already knew which was she was deaf and had some brain damage so she spins and he said no. That made me mad because I have three kids they could have been bitten playing with her. I'm hoping he will at least return my messages by tomorrow. Not sure what to do.

That is really strange -you would think that someone would be eager to get their dog back! Let us know what happens.

It looks like your good nature has been taken advantage of. I have to say that alarm bells would ring with me also if my messages were ignored because when im away I ask them to text me at least twice a week with an update on how they are doing. and I would also inform him that he didnt furnish you with all the relevent info on the dog especially when there are children in the house . Good luck ,I hope your house guest gets to return home today.

I've known him for a couple of years he is actually my dog trainer, I don't really know him well just from class. It is almost noon and still nothing from him.

Try not to be upset with the dog. I’m sure she is as anxious to be back home as you are to have her gone. Maybe she is acting differently because she is out of her usual element. And I assume he is traveling right? So maybe he is somewhere he cannot be reached? Or wasn’t planning on being home until the end of the weekend? It could be a number of things. It is odd that he only called the 1st day though. Hopefully he is ok. Do you know anyone else that knows him? Like another trainer from class or someone that might have an alternate contact for him?

He didn't give you an emergency contact? I read an article a couple of months ago about a man who had boarded his dog and went on vacation. He was killed in a motorcycle accident and no one knew where he had boarded the dog. It was 6 months later and they were still looking for the dog.. If he doesn't show up today I would contact his employer and see if they can help. They probably won't give you any info but they may try to contact him or his emegency contact for you. Good luck! I hope he shows up today.

Is he is associated with a training facility or club that would have alternate contact information, or a date when he is expected to return?

He came and got her tonight. I really didn't say much to him about how I felt I want to stay on good terms. I am really not mad any more I just wish he would have told me a few more things than he did and I wasn't mad at the dog I am sure it was very stressful for her being away from home. But I definitely won't be dog sitting any more.
Thank you all for your replies I think I just needed a vent.

I'm glad he came and got his baby. I would write him a note explaining how nervous she was and how you felt that your children wore put at risk. I am not saying to say anything accusatory, but more informative. He needs to find a sitter that can watch his dog in his home, so there is less stress for her.

Yes I definitely will do that. He did say she gets stressed for a few days but he didn't see what I saw and it was definitely more than a little stressed. I think most of my frustration was watching her stressed out and not being able to do anything to make her feel better. When he came in and she saw him she didn't whine like most dogs would she screamed, I'm sure that is part of her deafness she did make some funny sounds. I don't know it may just be me but if I knew my dog got that stressed I couldn't leave them. We are actually going on vacation toward the end of summer and I told dh if our dog couldn't go I wasn't going so I surfed the net and found a great house to rent that is dog friendly, already has a crate and a fenced in back yard and there is no extra fee. Actually he really found out more than I was going to tell him thanks to my kids lol gotta love em they don't care to say what really happened. They told him about her peeing on my couch and chewing up my daughters undies. I wasn't going to say anything because I didn't want him to be mad at her. Well it is finally over and I can get back to my normal routine.

Not in a bad way for you but this made me laugh!
I own a pet sitting company and I take care of pets in their own homes. There is NO WAY I would ever bring in a dog into my own home, minus my "niece" (Boxer) who I have known since she was a year old (she is now 8). I know sitters who do bring in their clients dogs and these are dogs they know but yet I have never heard anyone say that all went perfectly well. Something always happens!!
Glad this ordeal is over for you and that she is back with her owner. I am sure she feels better being home in her normal surroundings.
