Unique Fears!
Being a first time dog owner i never new what odd things dog can be fearful of in life. I always thought it was just dog being scared of certain people or other animals. Luckly enough I have been blessed with Achilles not being fearful of much or at least nothing that effects our daily routine, but i have heard of people saying their dog is scare of thunder, water, certain genders, and the funniest "A LOOSE FEATHER".
Anyways i thought it would be fun if we could list some of the unique fears our boxers have and how we coop with them.
As of know Achilles (1yr 2mo) is scared of smoke.
If we are cooking in the kitchen and it gets smokey he will spin around for a way out the apartment and if he doesn't find one he will jump up on the bed sit on my pillow like if he is in some kind of a trace. Twice at a BBQ he has slipped out of his collar and ran straight to my car. He will do a lap around the car then sit at the door, over and over until we leave.
Another thing that i find to be wierd is that Achilles is scared to eat out of a moving bowl. If you move his bowl while he is eating he jumps back in a panic, like WTH is going on.

I can understand being scare of a moving bowl. That has to be a bit freaky to have yur food moving on you.
My first girl had a fear of helium balloons. She would cower away from them. Which is odd because she wasn't afraid of anything else. Actually she was a little to fearless at times. We did use her fear to our advantage. We had put new carpet in our formal living room and dining room and wanted to train her to stay out of those rooms. I had recieved a mylar balloon as part of a bouquet and we put it up to block her entrance into the living room. (the dining room was on the other side of it). It work really well. Actually to well. When I wanted to take Christams pictures of her in front of the tree she wouldn't go in there! Oh how I miss her. Thanks for bringing that memory back to me!

The weirdest thing that Raiden is afraid of is my daughter's backpack. If it is sitting on the couch he jumps back from it and runs away, then approaches it slowly, then barks and runs again. It is pretty funny.
He is sometimes scared of hats. He also jumps if he has his back turned and you walk up to him and touch him (I only do it intentionally when he is getting into trouble and I catch him red-handed.. he jumps and runs).

Hmm I think it may be easier to list what my girl is not afraid of. Pool noodles, crutches, brooms, guns even toy ones, people, dogs larger than her, unexpected noises, being shut up in my room alone, the wind, and I'm sure there are more I just can't think of any right now. The weird thing is she isn't afraid of the vacuum or thunder.

Being afraid of smoke may be a good thing....In 2001 our first boxer Rebel was afraid of smoke, that year our house caught fire while we were all sleeping, if it hadn't been for Reble's going crazy that night because of the smoke, we may not have waken up to get out. Now our second boxer Toby, well as of now has no fear of anything, not sure if thats a good thing or bad.

I want it to be clear that Lillie has no issues with gunshots, firetrucks, things exploding, construction equipment, etc. but she jumps away from a hula hoop! She'll approach it, back away, then approach again with her nubby wiggling... and then back away again.
