One of Valant stunts

So we went to the parks, had a stroll through streets, then went shopping at the supermarket for food.

As usual,I tied Valant to a big concrete post near the entrance.

Sit,stay,he obeyed....until.

Made my grocery pickup, went to wait in line to pay, nothing out of the ordinary besides that it took me a bit longer than usual.

I waited for like 10 minutes then out of the corner of my eyes.....

Dude was sitting behind me waiting like it was no big deal.

I promptly excused ourselves, picked him up in my arms and went to the door (which is across the whole supermarket) and tied him back up.

Went inside to pay when the manager came to me laughing.

He told me that he just went through the meat part nose high snorting like mad then darted to where I was.

He was alerted (the manager) by a few freaked out customers because once inside,he stood still while he assessed the environment before moving in deeper. (from a woman that talked to me outside)

I am impressed.

The supermarket is a huge one and was loaded with customers...for him to track me among all the people and the smells of the stuff in there is really impressive.

The manager was impressed too (he followed him,not wanting to interfere at this point...bit afraid of Valant) and said that never did he stopped to snif a shelf or the meat rack (which is a very big,low and long one).

I just love my dog.

This made me laugh! It is impresssive he sought you out and avoided the food, can't say mine would do the same. I'm glad that you live someplace that you can feel comfortable leaving your dog out front. The town I grew up in it wouldn't have been a big deal, but even now I wouldn't do it there either, as it has become too big, and too many strange people. I've lived several different places and have heard too may times about how someone used to own a boxer but it was stolen. It does sound like you and Valant have a great relationship.

He is my Hachiko ( Akita Hachiko )

Nah,people tend to stay away from him, some even switch street side when they see him coming...

We tried the following with a friend;

He took his leash, waved goodbye and went...Valant was looking my way all the time and past about 40 feet, stopped dead then dragged my friend back to me.
