Unhappy My poor baby fell down

Yesterday morning, we were in the dog park and there were no other dogs (people seem to think that when the weathers bad their dogs don't need exercise lol!) so we were playing chase and fetch and she was having a wonderful time digging in the mud, galloping around(she is a white boxer, but by the time we left she had miraculously turned an interesting shade of brown). Then she ran up a hill which has a sharp drop down, I called her and instead of running back down the hill she jumped straight at me! She only fell about 5 feet and a bush broke her fall, but she is sore on her rump. She's walking fine, but can't run. We saw the vet (yes i'm a paranoid boxer mummy), no serious injuries thankfully. Went back to the dog park this morning and 2 of her friends were there but she was too sore to play so we left.

She's feeling much better now and almost 100% (it's still sore to touch), but it really scared both of us. This is the first time she has hurt herself, it has spooked her a bit and she's feeling very sorry for herself.

I was devasted and feel like such a bad mum

Ur not a bad Mom read ur post! U were the only Mom braving the elements with ur baby, allowing ur little white baby to get all dirty while she played and when she was hurt it was u brought her to the vet to make sure she was ok! I think great boxer Mom who should be proud!

Dogs do silly things and get hurt and that when they need great Moms to take care of them!

Thanks guys! She's fine now, running round like a loon again, didn't think I'd ever say this but I missed her crazy antics for a couple of days!

I have to say though, I'm originally from the UK, these Italian winters will never get me down

Glad to hear she is fine! Boxers don't often "look before they leap" . Mine have gotten tripped up by a change in terrain also. Sounds like you are a terrific mum!!

Glad to hear she's ok now, they're such a worry aren't they, it's like having children.

Boxers are about the same as children in terms of worry. But, a boxer won't grow up and tell you what a let down as a parent you are, ignore you on your birthday, treat you like you don't matter, etc. They're always glad to see you, always want hugs and kisses and always treat you like you're the center of their universe.

I have 3 grown sons. I'm on my second boxer. Boxers are much more satisfying in terms of love and companionship. Unfortunately, they have way too short of a life span.
