Boxers sure do love Boxers!

When we went to the vet on Sat., a couple brought in two Boxers. Ripley went nuts! Mind you, he has seen many other dogs, and while he does get excited no matter what breed of dog it is, I have never seen him anywhere near as excited as he was when he sow those two Boxers. He was ready to jump out of his skin! Happily, they let Ripley come over and play with them a little. The really liked him too. It was a very sweet moment!

Cute! I had a similar experience myself the other day. There is a boxer in our area that I had never met but I was told is aggressive with other dogs. Finally we met and she was absolutely fine with our boxer, Fiona! They were playing just fine and she was jumping all over me giving me kisses....certainly NOT the dog I was expecting! I really wish there were more boxers in our area for Fiona to play with, but everyone seems to have little tiny dogs or labradors!

The same thing happened with Daisy the last time we went to the vet--she went out for a quick potty while I was paying and a boxer and another dog were headed in. Daisy absolutely lost it over the boxer and paid no attention whatsoever to the other dog! We joke that they were saying "You have jowls? I HAVE JOWLS! You have floppy ears? I HAVE FLOPPY EARS! You have a stinky butt? I HAVE A STINKY BUTT TOO!!! BEST FRIENDS!!!"

Boxers are such goobers, and we love them!

In Wichita, every year they have a festival for dogs called Woofstock. This year was my first year going so I thought I'd better take Vinny first since Ozzy can be kinda hard to hold onto because of his size. There were dogs everywhere and of'course Vinny wanted to say hi to all of them but it was so funny how boxers tend to congregate together. At one point, there were about 8 boxers all jumping and tangling their leashes together. They were all very nice to each other giving kisses and boxing each other. I don't know of any other breeds that obviously know they're talking to the same breed. It's amazing!

Oh, and Vinny's nickname is just straight " Stinky ".

That is so true! 2 friends of mine have boxers & the first time Charlie Paper met either of them it was like being reunited with old friends. Its so funny how boxers seem to know other boxers!

We are fortunate that for whatever odd reason there seems to be a boxer on every street in our neighbourhood. I could probably assemble my own team of boxers with just the ones we know!
Roxy is always excited to see her "cousins" (as we call them).
I think that the typical boxer play is what unites them together. The other dogs don't really get how to play with them, and I think that is also how they are seen as "agressive" by other owners.
It is fun to watch them pounce like 60lb kittens!

Most of the other dogs seem to freak out a little when Rocky's second move (after sniffing) is to reach up with his paw and bat them on the head. I tried to break him but it just seems hopeless. There is a Pit mix that lives up the road and I almost died when he batted Rocky first. Rocky will not walk by that house without looking for his pit buddy. I was nervous at first but they both seem to play fine (typical puppy rough but fine). The same family has a Shepard that does not share the pits love for bieng batted in the head. Rocky tried to bat the Shepard and you could tell by the body language that the Shepard was not happy (ears back and tail down). Rocky does not seem to undertand dogs body language yet (5 months) and he will keep antagonizing until he gets snapped at. I wish there were more boxers in the area.

I would love to find a boxer owner in our neighborhood who would let me borrow their dog once in awhile so that Jake has a playmate. In fact, I think I would pay for the privilege!

My sister has a Boxer and she is about the same age as M.J. They don't want to play. They just give each other the stare down. M.J. gets along great with my APBT and all the other dogs we have come in contact with. And my sisters boxer get along withh all other dogs too. I don't really know what to make of their relationship. I think they both might want to be the dominant dog. I hope they will get it worked out so they can play.
