I signed the petition but did not watch the video. I can't stand to watch anything abusive toward animals.

Why wouldn't an officer just call animal control? .....if it was a boston terrier, or a poodle, or some other small dog (who in my opinion can be fiestier than many large dogs) what would have happened? The officer probably would have scooped it up, called animal control and been done with it...but since it is a medium sized dog all of a sudden it must be aggressive. I understand the need to protect themselves because not all pet owners are responsible, but give me a break-I think anyone that is going to have the potential to come into contact with dogs should at least know how they act (i.e. postal workers, police, emt's) so they can recognize if it appears a dog is being agressive or not. Regardless of what happened that allowed this boxer to be outside of it's home tazering an animal I don't believe is the appropriate action if there is an eye witness stating what actually happened. .....and don't all police cars have dash cameras (isn't that where the picture of the tazering came from)...where is the rest of the footage- all they are showing is the tazering. People make me so angry. Let someone do that to my dogs and I'll be the one who has to sit in a cage and await for a hearing. I signed the petition as well.

The taser itself is equipped with a camera. The officer was either using it incorrectly by holding it improperly (which is scary enough in its own right) OR intentionally covering the camera lens and blocking the picture recording.

People are sick and stupid, and when you give law enforcement a badge and gun/taser they think they are God. I signed and hope Otis gets to go home soon.

I agree with that. I don't know about where you live, but I know in my home town, there is a cop that got busted for a whole bunch of things, including selling drugs to minors. He got to be suspended with pay. wth. Can you say paid vacation for almost a year. Thats why they think they can get away with anything.....cause they can. Makes me sick. I signed also but did not watch (couldn't watch poor Otis get mistreated by a jerk).

NOTHING INFURIATES ME MORE,than the fear mongoring public when it comes to any breed of dog,let alone the most friendly and beautifull breed that is the Boxer, not only should that officer be publicly reprimanded, the city should be sued by any lawyer worth his salt.

The hearing has not happened yet. People from the Cleveland area will be protesting. Someone has said they found a lawyer.

Lets just say the cop was truly afraid and thought the dog really was being aggressive. Why did he need to tase the dog for 20 seconds! They are only allowed 5 seconds for people! The the most disturbing part is after this 20 second tase, they got something around his neck to get him to the car, and his little nub was going! Then the pig tased him again!

In an effort to stop the protest (officers not available) the hearing has been rescheduled.

That really makes me mad that they bumped the hearing back to Monday! They need to get with it and let Otis go home that poor baby is going to have to sit in that shelter for 3 more days until Monday finally gets here. It makes me ANGRY every time I click on the link to the website.

It was only "coincidence" that one officer was unavailable and the other had the day off from patrol?? Hence, must move the court date out a few days.
HUMPH.
In my mind I think they are trying to gather more info of the "aggressive" behavior from Otis while in the shelter over the weekend. More ammo, so to speak.
Pretty bright on the authorities part. Keep an already terrifed dog locked up a bit longer away from his family and familiar surroundings. Will it push him over the edge??

This whole thing makes me sick.

I saw the petition on another website and somebody had posted "so what it's just a dog euthanize it and get it over with"....maybe THAT person has had "dogs" in his life that they felt were indispensable. I feel bad when I discipline Thor and he bows his head in remorse. He is such a dear part of my family that if anybody was mean to him they would have to put up with a very protective "mommy". Dogs are smart and they know when they are being mistreated.
