Talking Re: Boxer Traits

Logan has always done the kidney bean, she just started the whoo hoo (i love it!), she is learning how to open the front door by herself (not good), she pretends she is the worlds fastest boxer in the backyard, doing sprints for five minutes, she has her nightly burst of energy about 9, jumps on the couch, does 50 circles and plops down sighs and passes out. She can't swim. She loves to meet new people and go on car rides. If I say, you wanna go for a ride she starts jumping in mid air and takes off to the door. She is so eager to please me, but can be very stubborn. When she hears me brushing my teeth in the morning, she gets in her crate before I tell her to, but at bed time she runs and jumps on the couch and I have to drag her to the crate (she thinks its funny, wagging her tail the whole time) My favorite thing is how much she loves me. When people come to our house, she says hello and then comes and sits next to me. When were at a friends house and she can run, she always comes by and checks on me. When she is confused she looks at me and tilts her head. I love my baby boxer!

I think this is a funny one, get a rag quick, after they get done eating, they go to your couch, and wipe their lips, sliding across the front of it, first one side of the face, then they turn around, and slide the other side of their face, across the front of your couch, Its the perfect napkin for them, all my Boxers did it, another thing they do is, the reason I called them my U dog, cause they would turn their bodies into the shape of a U when ya talk to them, and sometimes when they would be outside barking at something, you would swear you had a hound dog, not a boxer. I love the breed.

Re: boxer traits

All else falls true with the exception of gas and kidney beans.

Just wondering why you don't have the "gas" problem with your boxer - what does she eat?

Re: Boxer Traits

Our boy Oscar has some cute Boxer traits... when he's excited he'll jump straight up in the air and kind of twist and turn while he's up there. He will also get a burst of energy and run back and forth and then all of a sudden plop down, ok I'm done! He has his little noises... sometimes he puffs his air out and snorts and it sounds like a horse... my mom got a kick out of it when they were watching him for us one weekend.... she said she heard a "horse noise" in the wee hours of the morning and opened her eyes and there was Oscar's face about 3" from hers. He also likes to sleep on the couch with his head hanging off the edge and his nose about 2" off the floor. And of course he has to give us his hugs... if we are sitting on the couch he'll come up and put his front legs on either side of us and his head on our chest and stand there like that... it's funny when he starts to fall asleep like that because he's still standing and his rear legs will start sinking to the floor. Also he doesnt' like to swim... will walk out to about his chest but that's about as far as he'll go.
PS... what is the "kidney bean" I've seen mentioned on here?

I think a boxer trait may be creativity. Last week Scrappy wanted my husband to walk him for the fourth time that day. Normally he becomes very excited and barks when he sees one of us put shoes or socks on. As my husband already had his shoes on and was trying to ignore Scrappys barks for attention(walk me!), Scrappy decided to find a sandal and drop it at my husbands feet. He got his walk.

1st time Boxer owner, 6 months

So far, we've noticed Max displaying the following distinct traits:
  1. Kidney Beaning (we call him Noodle when he does this)
  2. Using his paws in cat-like motions (in fact, doing a lot of cat-like movements in general)
  3. The occasional Woo Woo Song
  4. Being able to do a 5 foot vertical jump (that's amazing)
  5. The infamous Boxer sigh
  6. GAS!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Butt wagging the nub
  8. Loves kids and people
  9. He LOVES Jackhammering his Daddy's arms
  10. The front legs/paws wrap around and boxing swing
  11. He hates the rain and his bath
  12. DIGGING!!!!!!!!!!
  13. The unique Boxer strut walk and lean
  14. Max also loves to do the shark attack on his toys. It's so funny
  15. And of course... a Boxer's unconditional love of his Momma and Daddy.
  16. ....and being the cutest breed of dog on Earth!!!

Tucker's Traits

Along with the above mentioned boxer traits, Tucker loves getting to the center of his toys to chew the fuzz stuffing; we often find it stuck to his jowels. He also really, really loves to sun bathe in the morning. We have a lounge chair setup in our back yard just for him.

Another thing Tucker loves to do is cuddle. He is not happy just laying on our bed or couch with us, he has to be plopped down on top of us.

Tucker commonly pushes open doors and investigates random objects, hammers, shoes, soap, baseballs, and Mommy's make up. He also loves to "rearrange" any fake plants within his reach.

Wrestling is one of Tucker's favorite activities and he usually ends up on top nibbling our neck, but he will NEVER nibble our face; nibbles for the neck, kisses for the face.

Question "Bum tuck run"

I don't know how else to describe what my Molly does when she's running and playing. She tucks her backside in as if it is almost ready to pass her...I've never seen anything funnier. Anyone else know what I'm talking about? I would love to know if it's a Boxer thing or a Molly thing.

Benny is like that too! I always thought that he had aquaphobia! He especially hates bathtime and the garden hose when I water the flowers! Another Boxer trait? :P
