Our 2 lady boxers are so different from each other. Scarlet the 5 year old plain fawn lays at the top of the stairs and hangs her head over the edge like she is draining her sinus'. Melanie, the baby, gives all sorts of great kisses while she puts her paw on your shoulders and finishes by nibbling your ear. She also does the running thing, but my sister and I think she looks more like she is trying to dodge the snippers. I'm away at college right now, but when I home on break she always sneaks into my bed when she is let out of her crate in the morning. While I'm at school, I told that she still does the same thing even though someone is sleeping in the next room, she preferes my bed.
peace

Thank God to hear that all of your boxers seem to do all the things that Arokh does. If he isn't laying on his back or on me he too likes to lay on his tummy with legs out streched behind him. Someone told me that they do this because it feels good on their hips (who cares, it's cute). He will also suddenly dart around the house when bored, chase his tail (not docked), play with toys and of corse chew on dads toes, socks or no socks. I don't know if he does this to get you attention or if he likes the taste and texure. I think it's cute, his dad dosen't. It's just nice to hear that we're not alone and wondering if all these things are normal.

My best friend, also a boxer lover, got her first two twenty years ago. The boys were litter-mates, Malcolm and Rodney. As they got older, they developed the kidney bean thing, worrying my friend who had never seen this and thought it was abnormal. She took them to the vet and complained that whatever had caused it was obviously contagious because they both did it.

Does your Boxer baby do this?

Mackie loves to sleep at the foot of my bed and under the covers...How does he breath? He also does an elaborate circle dance when I come home from work. I look forward all day to the way he greets me. Mackie is a leaner and is famous at the dog park for greeting everyone at the gate and then leaning into them as he is petted. He is far more interested in people than other dogs! Christine

boy! do all of these traits sound familiar or what????
My female,Taylor is famous for most of the antics listed above, plus she loves to play soccer all by herself she uses her front legs to juggle the ball and pounces on it as well... if anyone dares to try to take it away she hangs on VERY tightly with her jaws and WILL NOT let go for anything.
As for Jazz (male) he is my luvaluva and if he wants attention or food or a belly rub he pushes his way in behind me when I'm sitting down wraps himself around the back of my neck (like a scarf) and shoves his cheek in front of my face if I'm watching T.V. or talking to someone in front of me.

Talking I forgot about the flies--dragonflies!

I forgot to mention this until I saw all the entries about your boxers chasing flies. I can't wait until warmer weather. The dragonflies hang around in our backyard, and Cassie chases them for hours, of she could. It's almost like the dragonflies are playing with her; they stay in the yard and buzz low enough to tease her then fly off to another part of the yard. I love it because Cassie will run and play without my help, and it gets pretty warm outside. I have to check Cassie periodically to make sure she doesn't overheat herself!!

Red face

I meant, she'd chase them for hours, IF she could. Sorry...

boxer traits

Dax our now almost 4 year old boxer--What did we do with our time before. He has typical traits..sleeping under the covers (in the bed of course), gas, the woo woo song, although he does it when we sing the Boomer Sooner fight song, and of course the heavy head to leave a slobber ring whereever he goes. We think he lies around why we're gone practicing "how to be so cute its pathetic." But...does your boxer eat Broccoli? He loves it and the vet says since it's a vegetable it's ok.

We'll never own another breed, they're always full of animation and I've never had a more loving, cuddly dog. He's our 70 pound lap dog, if I'm on the couch he's with me.

Dax is fawn/blk mask/natural ears/docked---He's agility and obedience trained--although does better in agility. Obedience takes so much concentration.

Odd eating habits

I thought Mackie was the only dog that had food cravings! He hasn't shown a fondness for broccoli but he loves cantalope and grapes! Gotta go It's bedtime and Mackie is staring at me waiting to hop up and crawl under the covers..what a goof!!

Smile COMMON TRAITS

My 4 year old boxer Dempsey has most of the traits told by everyone. I especially love when he snores and his lips flubber out as he exhales. I don't think Dempsey knows what a floor is....If I'm on the couch/bed, he's right there on top of me. I love the way Boxers cuddle.
